Poor Martha. It'll be ok. I haven't received any spring catalogs, either.

Re: Catalog season has begun!
However, seed ordering season started for me! Seed Savers Exchange had a sale on 2011 seeds and I bought some. I just got an e-mail telling me they have been shipped.

Just like boxes, you can't have too many. OH! WAIT! you did say you have enough boxes... blasphemy I say
Re: Catalog season has begun!
Just wait - right now I am saying about all those new boxes, but in the Spring, when I have to fill them, find all the stuff to fill them, get all the string grids just so after I fill them, it might be more like

Re: Catalog season has begun!
Territorial Seed Company posted on their facebook that their new catalog for Spring 2012 went to press on November 28th, and we should expect them in our mailboxes by end of December. They provided a sneak peek of the new cover:
In the meantime, I've received another copy of their Spring 2011 catalog in the mail!

Re: Catalog season has begun!
I buy from Territorial so eagerly await their catalog.
I got my FIRST catalog on Sat Dec 3rd, from Seed Savers Exchange (Iowa) and spent the next 3 hours going over it again and again and then placing a star beside the seeds I think I've just GOT to try this year. I really need a larger garden.

I know, I know!
And I'm still holding steady at just SSE. Nothing yet from Johnny's, John Scheepers, and I'm not sure what other mailing lists I might be on.

Wow! I just got a Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds catalog today. It has absolutely the most beautiful pics of the different veggies that I've ever seen in a catalog.

Re: Catalog season has begun!
This year my experiment will be that I will only be buying from Baker Creek, I got the new catalog yesterday. I know there are other companies dedicated to seed preservation and heirloom seeds, but for simplicity I am just going to order form BC. If I plant anything that is not heirloom it will be seeds I already have on hand and do not want to waste.

Re: Catalog season has begun!
I rec'd my Baker Creek cat. in yesterday's mail, which I picked up on the way to take grdau for some Xrays this morning. Enjoyed thumbing thru it while waiting. I see a few varieties I'll have to buy this year and try.
Living in Maine, I like to order mostly from Johnny's Seeds since they grow lots of seeds adapting to cold states, cool springs and short summers. But I still venture out to Baker Creek, Seed Savers and Territorial Seeds, which are also among my faves.

I bought so many last year, I don't need to even look at a catalog this year.......but I'm gonna. Parkseed and Burpee and some others. But, I buy most of my stuff from the big box stores anyway. Sorry if that offends you "organics."

I got my Baker Creek a few days ago and have only had time to flip through a few pages. I will have most of today off work so I am going to sit down with a cup of coffee and make some notes!

I have Johnny's catalog but now I ordered one from Bare as so many have been talking about it.
In Johnny's they have a 7x7 netting, which I need for my trelis, and wondered if anyone has tried it. They say it is strong nylon but would be nice to know if anyine has tried it.

Omaha Pumpkin
Charentais
Petit Gris de Rennes (a Charentais-type melon)
Rich Sweetness
Okay, so my list of melons keeps growing.....now if I can just get the melons to grow that fast!
