So, here I sit, waiting for the sun to come up, so I can head for the garden. I look out the window, to see how close we're getting, and . . . IT'S RAINING!OhioGardener wrote:countrynaturals wrote:Perfect 10-day forecast for gardening! Boy, do I ever need some Dirt Therapy!

Finally getting what they promised, yesterday, but it's still too wet to do anything. I'll be leaving my seedlings out all night for the first time this year. Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Some wild thunderstorms moved through around 3:00 am, along high winds and dime-size hail. Checked the gardens this morning, and they seemed to survive the storm in style. The kale, chard, and spinach has a lot of mud splashed on them, but otherwise they're in good condition. The cold frame wasn't damaged by the hail. The rain gauge showed that we got just a little over 3/4" rain during the storm. Supposed to get some more thunderstorms tonight.

First time we've hit 80 this year, and today is getting there again. It seems like we skipped the 70s almost entirely and went from lovely and cool to turning on the AC and making emergency iced tea.

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Bummer! We're getting 83 today, but then no more 80s in the 10-day, which is a good thing, cuz I have a ton to do and I start wilting when it hits 75. I'm done in at 80.SusanTheWriter wrote:First time we've hit 80 this year, and today is getting there again. Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Here it seems Corona 19 has seen the skyies from cloudy & rainy most early April days to sky blue for the last two week due to the massive drop in air pollution . Who would have thought it ?
Had to come inside 11.00nhrs till 15.30hrs as the sun was burning me on my face & arms . temp close to 18 oC . If this keeps up we might even have to go on hose pipe bans this year . What ! ……… IN WALES .
It's so clear , we had the best night sky I've ever seen in the UK despite street light pollution robbing the quality of some starlight .

Freeze is on the way.
Tuesday, 33*F, Wednesday, 33 and Thursday 32. FREEZING. A few days ago, it was 88*F. With the low of 67. Yesterday I put plastic over my Hoops while the sun was shining. Today, the outside temp is 53*F and the inside of the hoops was 67. I only have Radish and onions in the hoops so I'm not to worried about the cold weather.
Today I will cover my salad bed with plastic.
My two hoop houses.

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
It's still rather warm here it reached 24 oC out in the garden at 14.45 hs...too warm for me , so I closed the windows and had a good test of the new triple glazing that we had done in Feb 2020 .
.. It's brilliant , it's been nice & cool indoors whilst I've been in & out to my mancupboard cutting up wood to make heavy duty shelves for the canned food stock cupboard . They should be able to take several hundred pounds of filled jars on each shelf with out any problem .
Tomorrow is a another hot forecast , so all the curtains will be closed and the trickle air vents opened on the shaded side of the bungalow. This is the ultimate coolth test .

It's looking good, Mr. B.
Plantoid, I got a slight sunburn on the back of my neck a week ago. Today, I'm bundled up.

Today is cooler still wearing a T shirt & shorts but had to add a jumper when the sun went & hid . Looks like we are about to have a 10 oC temperature drop over night with a fair bit of rain coming in off Iceland via the North Atlantic .. Brrrrrrr.
Glad I finished planting my 450 onion sets and two dozen garlic cloves this afternoon .

It is sunny and 57° here in New Orleans. It'll be absolutely perfect around lunchtime when we warm up to 70°.
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
One hour ago it was 31*F then dropped to 29*F with a widely scattered frost warning. Thank the Lord for my hoop houses.
Looking good for the rest of the week though. 40's and 50's at night with 60's and 70"s daytime.

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
I have just 2 more days in the low 70s to get everything ready for summer. Not sure if I can do it, but I'm gonna give it my best shot. Got a lot of dirt to move, but I am getting a little help.
Also gotta get the timers out and the drip system going again. Then come the mid 80s, which means I can still work in the mornings, but the heat will turn me into a pumpkin by shortly after lunch. Not even talking about what comes after that.

Absolutely beautiful day here in SW Ohio! Got a little less than a quarter inch of rain yesterday, and everything is bright and perky today. It is a sunny 65°F, and I can't think of a thing I need to be doing in the garden. Maybe I'll go plant some more beets.
