weather.com for gardeners--question
Wow, pretty cool. I was just asking on the New England forum about the difference between frost and freeze. Thought this weather.com would help out. But I'm still confused. For my zip code (Boston, MA), it says that the chance of frost is "none" but freeze is "low." Predicted low tonight is 37. I'd have thought that frost would be more likely than freeze. Can anyone explain the difference to a newbie?

No, I can't! That makes no sense! Any meteorologists out there?

I don't know the why's and wherefore's ....but I do know that frost has two factors involved - temperature and humidity. the more humid, the greater the likelihood of frost.

Re: weather.com for gardeners
Hmmm...The first of many such dilemmas, I suppose. I guess I should err on the side of caution and cover things up, but that would mean trying to find the right materials after work tonight, in the rain. On the other hand, I do have mostly cold-weather stuff growing now, so maybe I'll take my chances (it did say "low" chance of freeze...). Aargh! Well, thanks to all for weighing in. Any other information on this frost vs. freeze topic are most welcome.
