You retire a year early (next August) just so you can pollinate the squash growing under tulle in the morning and uncover in the morning and cover in the afternoon the fall vegetables with row cover to keep them from freezing.

Worm Castings
You excitedly tell your distant family (the ones who don't know about my gardening yet) that you got just bought a bag of worm poo from Amazon.

Even more so when you tell them you actually bought the worms to make your own poo.
(And keep them in the living-room.)

You know you're a square foot gardener when your brain permanently programs garden lingo. For example I checked the weather and read it as Tomato Watch. What?? Look again this time it correctly reads tornado watch....I'd prefer a tomato watch...

When your four year old neighbor girl asks you how your worm pets are doing and if you are done naming them yet, LOL! (I told her I had named each one and now she wants me to tell her their names!!!)

Don't you know, audrey.jeanne, that little children take your words literally? Do what I do, name all my worms, Fred.
As I have said before; all my goldfish were named George, and all my boyfriends, Darling.
Re: You Know You're a Square Foot Gardener When...
LOL! I wish I'd thought of it, I could have named them Fred 1, Fred 2, Fred 3...
I did tell her I was naming them "A, B, C, D..." that went right over her head though, LOL!
