Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
3 more days of rain, then a whole week of perfect gardening weather!
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
They changed their minds about that, and all we're getting is one nice day.countrynaturals wrote:3 more days of rain, then a whole week of perfect gardening weather!
This morning it's raining so hard it's almost scary. We're under flash flood watch, getting 1/2 inch of rain per hour. Thank goodness we're on the top of a ridge, so no threat of flood, here.

CN,
I've learned never to trust a weather forecast! Occasionally they may provide a clue, but there are too many variables involved (some of which are unknown) to accurately predict much of anything.

hello everyone been some time since i visited Hello from northern Illinois today high is 14 degrees. This is way too soon for January weather. Lucky for me in October i planted my garlic the 2nd weekend as it turned out to snow on Oct 31st all the Kids treating in coats. I am really glad to see my posts are still on here as I am making my TP seed containers trays up early. Going to try and grow some Honeyberry plants (5 verities) form seed need in about 6 months to so staring early January. I looked on line and they sell for about 15 bucks a piece yikes, a good time to plan for spring. Since i last posted i made My own large scale 3D Printer made some 42mm stands to support the TP rolls while cutting the ends. Hope everyone is doing great stay warm

Welcome back, Recoush. Congrats on the 3D printer and good luck with the berry plants.recoush wrote:hello everyone been some time since i visited Hello from northern Illinois today high is 14 degrees. Weather here is kinda weird. Typical rainy day, but the sky was a uniform light pinkish-gray this morning at sunrise, like something from a cheap sci-fi movie. Looked like it was all painted on, then back-lit.
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Rain 7 of the next 10 days. We're well ahead in the water game this year.
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Our normal temp swings are 20-30 degrees. Today, our high is 45 and our low is 43. It has rained almost every day for a month. This has been a very goofy winter (hard freeze in November) AND IT HASN'T EVEN STARTED, YET!
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Only 6 days of sun for the whole month of December, and even those are all partly to mostly cloudy. Average rainfall .35 inches. This year we've had 2.57", with more rain forecast for 9 of the next 10 days. Maybe I'll just plant grapes next year and grow my own wine, in case next winter is anything like this one. (I think my potato onions rotted in the wet soil.)

I couldn't stand another minute of it, so I bundled up and went over to the garage room and started another desktop container garden, in front of a SW facing window. (New plant lights should be here, tomorrow.)
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) reported the following this morning: "Ottawa was at -22 C at 5 a.m. with a wind chill making it feel like -33."
That's -7.6F and -27.4F respectively.

Rain finally moved out. Apparently we've had some flooding with downed trees. No rain for several days, it looks like.
Still pretty windy...

Down here daytime temps are in the 60's and sunny yesterday and today. But we did get inches and inches of rain over the last week.AtlantaMarie wrote:Rain finally moved out. Apparently we've had some flooding with downed trees. No rain for several days, it looks like.

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Gentle rain. Came in late, so I had time to rake 2 more bucketfuls of leaves, and get them spread. Now I'm sorting seeds, sipping coffee, and watching football, with a clear conscience, since I actually got a little something done before it all got wet. Life is good!
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Freezing fog, which sometimes is a prelude to significant snowfall.

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Lookin' at 5 days of sunshine, with highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s. I should be able to get a great start on my 2020 gardens.
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
I just read about the drought/wildfire devastation in Australia. Heartbreaking. No words.
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Our 10-day forecast is perfect, so I'm gonna pretend it's spring. I know it's a gamble, but all I have to lose is a little time and a few seeds, and it could pay off -- stranger things have happened. Besides, I figure Mother Nature owes me one, after that hard freeze in November (almost 3 weeks before our first frost date).
