Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
20 minutes later we had a big storm, with pounding rain, strong winds, and more hail. It was already dark, so I couldn't see the damage. I'll find out in the morning if my baby plants made it through.
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Our forecast for today (April 9) is freezing rain, ice pellets, up to four inches of snow and another inch of snow in the evening. I think the north pole has shifted to Ottawa.

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
After reading TD's report, I almost feel guilty announcing that spring is finally here. Our 10-day report is perfect. All my dormant babies will finally get to see the sun and I will probably overdo it every day and wish for some rain to save me from myself.
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
By Wednesday night, our low temps are still not up to 50, but by Thursday, our day temp will be 87. So, by ideal standards, we have no tomato season at all this year.
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
It's bitingly brassy outside, the temp gauge reads 12 oC but the easterly wind chill makes it feel like 2oC . No sowing any seeds outside for at least another week , when by this time next wek it's supposed to warm ............. up to 18 oC

Like Springfield, Vermont was on May 2, 2010. (even though I'm posting this on April 15th)countrynaturals wrote: our day temp will be 87.
I hope that May starts off warm as well, similar to how July usually does. Lately, it's been a yo-yo!
(Even a normal June should start off with higher temps than it often has been!)

Record rainfall for April 14 here is Ottawa. Seems like we are always setting new weather records here in Canada's capital.

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
It was 88*F today. Predicted in the 80s and low 90s during the next 10 days. Frantically getting the seedlings and seeds planted and the drip systems repaired. Everything should be done by the Pink Moon.
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
They cancelled the tornado warning we had a few moments ago. It was sw of us, but headed in our direction.
Supposed to rain most of the day, I guess. 1-2 inches of rain, according to NOAA. Yipee....

That's good news, Marie.
Here they cancelled spring before it even got started. The night temps are still in the 40s, but we already have 90s in the daytime forecast. IT JUST ISN'T FAIR!
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
We got 5 inches of rain from midnight last night until 9 am this morning. It just now stopped raining. My garden is floating. MM can only absorb so much water.AtlantaMarie wrote:They cancelled the tornado warning we had a few moments ago. It was sw of us, but headed in our direction.

5 inches? Oh, my.....
I saw some pics of (supposedly - it was fb, so who knows) the south side of Atlanta with flooding on the roads. I know that there were several creeks that overflowed the banks.
I'm glad we live on a hill!

30 minutes ago the sun was shining beautifully! Now...it's raining...again...
It is a pleasant 52 degrees so there's that.

If April showers bring May flowers, we're in for a beautiful display next month! Never seen such a rainy month as we have had this year, and it just keeps coming. So far we are over 5" above average rainfall for this time of the year.

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Lots of rain here as well. There is concern that the rivers (we have three that converge at Ottawa) will flood. a portion of our backyard is under water but so far the SFG has been spared.OhioGardener wrote:If April showers bring May flowers, we're in for a beautiful display next month! Looking for 17C (63F) on Sunday. YES!!!
The rains continue and flooding is underway in the Ottawa area. One person on the Quebec side of the Ottawa River has died when the road washed away.

OMG, TD! Will the gardens of the future have to be under giant domes? Are the weather-disaster movies coming true?
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
It"s crazy here now. Record heat in summer. Five tornados in one afternoon last year. Record cold days in Winter. Fifty percent more snow than normal this past winter. Now flooding.countrynaturals wrote:OMG, TD! Will the gardens of the future have to be under giant domes? Are the weather-disaster movies coming true?

Eck! That's like very-early-April! And then there has to be a day tomorrow, where it will feel like a normal April 1, instead of late-April, FFS!ispinwool wrote:30 minutes ago the sun was shining beautifully! Now...it's raining...again...

Below-average temps are expected again!
