Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
CotheK, Yes the rice is pre-cooked. They cook all day in the crock pot on Low while we are at work.CotheK wrote:Wow! Nar56 those peppers look marvelous - even for 'smaller!'
The recipe sounds delicious! Is the rice precooked? How long in the slow cooker?
Thanks all for the comments about the peppers, they were delicious!

Finished the last of the cabbage yesterday, had some onions, and some rutabagas! I my garden rutabagas (plus they're easy to grow)!
Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
Julie, I have never grown rutabagas....when do you sew them? By seed? I love turnips, but also have never grown them....

Last night for dinner, I enjoyed my first asparagus of the season.
Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
Us too! I lightly oiled and salted them and tossed into a heated cast iron pan to char slightly.donnainzone5 wrote:Last night for dinner, I enjoyed my first asparagus of the season.

Fava Bean Salad
This salad has Fava Beans, Sugar Snap Peas, English Shell Peas, and Leeks all of which were just harvested from the garden this morning. I also added Edamame which I froze after last years harvest.
The tomatoes and onions in the top of the picture were store bought. It won't be too long before I start harvesting my tomatoes. They are already setting on.

I had kale, spinach and chard which I added to 8oz of cooked farfalle, sautéed with EVOO, garlic, sweet onion, salt pepper...WOW! Yummo! Then topped off with grated Parmesan, it was great!
Forgot about how yummy the fresh harvest was....thanks, Mel!

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
Some women become sentimental over fresh cut garden flowers on their kitchen table.
I gazed at these little guys the same way this morning. The one on the left is a good point of reference at a full inch in diameter. These are chilling a little in ice water before getting wrapped and stored in the fridge.

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
My kale from last year survived the Winter, Gold! I have been able to cut some for my daughter's family and my own household. It is young, tender and tasty.
