I've got a few heads of Anuenue lettuce in the 'fridge for a salad and tonight I'm going to go out and harvest the Spring Raab Rapini broc (I only planted 4, so I think I'll have to take 'em all in order to get a substantial meal out of them) and some garlic scapes. That, plus some nice 'Sugar Ann' snap peas and some chicken should make for a good stir-fry tonight. YUM!

Baked potato topped with sour cream and SFG chopped shallot flower stem, my own canned baked beans, and SFG micro greens from dividing the new collards/kale/beets today drizzled with SFG scape induced olive oil.

Well, when I was watering, I saw a radish in the very corner of the square, practically picking itself! It was at least 2/3rds uncovered, like it was just asking to be plucked, rinsed, and eaten--so I obliged. (Funny thing, I'd just popped a flower from a stevia plant in my mouth, and it really complemented the radish.)

Luckily Sugar Snap Peas and Super Sugar Snap Peas right off the vine and into my mouth!
Todays garden items
Just made salsa with my onions, elephant garlic, cilantro, tomatoes, banana and Jalapeno peppers
Purple hull peas with bacon and carrots and spinach with corn bread
Tomorrow: Butter beans(big Limas), silver queen corn and tomato cucumber and onion salad
Blueberry cobbler for dessert

3 carrots, 2 side shoot heads of broccoli. The blueberries are getting plump and purple, couldn't stand to wait any longer, grabbed the first ones that are ready- 14 berries for breakfast this morning- yay

Luscious soft lightly boiled Spring cabbage large outer leaves tossed in a smidgeon of butter & ground black pepper & fine chopped garlic in the gravy accompanying last years the thin slow cooked beef out the freezer .
The leaves that should have been ready in mid april as pointed cabbages , they have only recently started to form the points .
We also had some strawberries out the garden , our first for this year .

It's easy .......get 2.5 inches of water boiling in a three or four pint pan , drop in pre prepared strips of the leaves about an inch wide having removed any thick rib first.
Bring back to the boil , bung on the lid and simmer at a rolling boil , time it for five min 30 second , then drain off and drop the 1/2 teaspoon of butter in the pan add the cabbage out the drainer and gently stir with a wooden spoon giving a grind or three of black pepper serve immediately on the plate with the rest of the meal which in our case was the beef , plain mashed spuds and carrots baton slowly fried in a bit of butter in a glass lidded frying pan so you can see when to stir them around ..to give you soft sweet carrots baton .

Last night it was kale and an 'Ivory' bell pepper in the sausage and kale saute whcih also included sausage from our pastured pork we buy in bulk and local maple syrup purchased at the farmers market.

Red leave lettuce that I used to wrap up pulled pork and pinot beans from dinner last night. My hubby was jealous that I made them up after he had finished his lunch to not having to share

Picked and ate a leaf of Deer's Tongue lettuce from a volunteer head I found when I pulled the 2' weeds out of an unused portion of a brick raised bed. It was starting to bolt so I wanted to test for bitterness. It is still sweet as can be! Planted 4 pepper plants where the weeds were, and the lettuce is still shaded by the peas, so I may get a salad or 2 out of it yet.

Oh boy... where to start! My dear wife went out and picked another round of green beans to put on the stove. Chopped up some onion and some garlic from the garden and cooked them the old fashion way with a little bacon grease and lots of salt. These were to die for. She also picked and fried up some squash and zucchini breaded with corn meal. Sliced some cherokee purple tomatoes and served along with some whole green onions. Only thing on the table NOT from the garden was a slice of ham from the grill.
