Now there's something you don't hear every day. You play the dulcimer? I would love to learn how to play the hammered dulcimer. What a beautiful instrument. You play violin. Can you also play the cello? You must be a very talented young man.
Your garden is lovely.

For you doggy lovers who live like I do in suburbia, where every yard is ringed with a 6ft tall cedar privacy fence, I thought this was too cute:
Re: Senseless Banter...
Adorable picture! And along the same lines:
I have venetian blinds on my back door, for 7 years no matter how many times I straighten the two bottom slats, my cat Daisy takes her nose and pushes the bottom 2 slats to the right several inches at her eye level so she can look through the glass. don't you love senseless banter?!!

Re: Senseless Banter...
Speaking of Venetian blinds (which I hate!), my three cats also love to peer through them. They're all so big that they've managed to break off some of the end slats.
Hmmm.... I could use those as plant markers.

Re: Senseless Banter...
Been a little over 2 weeks since I quit smoking cigarettes. On the patch and it helps. Had been smoking for over 35 years or so. Kinda grumpy, but I dont mean to take it out on anyone. I had my quit date as Mother's Day, but at 10:30 or so on Saturday night, I was dying for a cigarette. I went to the local loaf n jug and bought a pack. I smoked the rest of the pack on Mother's Day and that was it. Starting to feel better breathing wise. Hopefully, I can stay quit this time.

Lillyz - I quit smoking regular cigarettes about 2 years ago. But I could not get over the oral fixation problem so I started puffing these electronic cigarettes. So I am no longer polluting my lungs with the toxic tobacco but who knows what these electronic cigarettes are eventually going to do to me.

Yolos,
I know what you mean. My problem is what to do with my hands. When I go someplace I have my key chain and I mess around with that. If Im waiting on someone I play with apps on the cell phone. Good thing I got a lot of weeds in the flower garden, I can just pull those.
Tricia, Camp, Sanderson and Yolos, Thanks for the support!! It is really appreciated.

Re: Senseless Banter...
I am lucky that I never smoked in my life thanks to my foster Dad when I was a teenager. It irked me at the time as I was the only non-smoker in my group, but I now thank him for being so strict with me.
My husband smoked from the age of 14 and he did not live as long as he should have. I know what an addiction it is as he tried to quit but never managed it.
All the best to you in your fight.

Yes, best wishes to all of you in your fight.
I believe Lucky is the magic word Kelejan.
Like you I didn't smoke either, even when surrounded by it.
It wasn't appealing, even growing up during the smoke filled 60's and 70's...

Personally, I knit, especially small things, easily transported, like socks or hats. Keeps both my hands and mind occupied on road trips, in doctors' offices, other times one must just wait. Good thing we sing a lot in church or I'd be tempted to pull out the needles! Crochet, hand embroidery, and hand piecing for quilts are all good to keep hands busy. Bless you for quitting and giving your family more of you, longer. Nonna

Re: Senseless Banter...
My mom smoked and three of my sisters smoke(d). One of my sisters has the strongest will ever and quit, went back to it several times but has been away from it for years. She tries to get exercise as much as possible when stressing and it is not always possible. I never smoked even though my mother tried to get me to try it. I worked in offices where there was always a fog in the air. I have one daughter and her husband that smoke. It's a hard thing to quit. Someone suggested to her to get the cinnamon flavored Jolly Rancher candies as a strong flavor when she was craving a cigarette. I know there are other things involved than just flavor and I am so proud of you guys!
That is a good suggestion Nonna! I know I feel like I am not busy if my hands are idle. Lilly I have tons of weeds if you want to come over, lol! We had nice wonderful rain yesterday so the ground should be softened enough for me to get those weeds pulled so I better get out there and get with it. My garden area is still a mess as I have been doing other yard work, planting my garden and taking care of it, digging weeds out of my lawn, mowing, amending my old type sfg beds, watching grand kids, and doing as little as possible of house work! I really need to take advantage of this cooler weather as I don't like to work out in the extreme heat, it wears me out. It is cool and beautiful outside and it is so nice to hear the birds singing!
