Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
Ready to pick this morning - Swiss chard, one blueberry yes one blueberry! Chives, kohlrabi, the first of slobolt lettuce - "slobolt" is suppose to handle heat, hope its not bitter.

Will be picking two more jalapenos and enough kale and chard to freeze the first of the season's greens for winter.

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
We're expecting hot weather so this morning I harvested a bunch of head of different lettuces and a ton of cooking greens like kale, swiss chard, spinach, cabbage, and beet greens, as well as some radishes and garlic chives. Instead of my usual colander for harvesting, I had to use this bucket:
Strawberries and sugar snap peas seem to be finished now. Guess I'll be taking out the peas today and put in some more pole beans. Is it OK to plant beans where peas were?

We're eating peas, lettuce, cilantro, and basil right now and the kohlrabi looks ready. The bush beans, tomato, pepper, cuc and zuc are starting to form their offerings so it won't be long!

Our breakfast was an omelet.
The herbs (garlic, lavender, chive) and leaf lettuce sprouts are all from the garden.

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
Green beans, broccoli all together with some plain old butter, salt and pepper. A complete meal in itself.
Picked lots of beans. Froze some and when I get tired of picking them I have 4 kids who would love to have them. When all else may fail in a garden one can count on the beans to flourish.
Tasted like a bit of heaven.

For supper I had stuffed cabbage and Brussels sprouts leaves. Stuffing included rice and a little beef with chopped carrots, onions and dill from the garden. The sauce made from last years frozen tomatoes.... They were, oh so Y U M!!

Lettuce and radishes for salad with purchased avocado; snow peas steamed with garlic scapes, dressed in olive oil and garlic/parsley salt; new potatoes steamed and browned in butter/olive oil; served with commercial grilled meat. Tasty. Nonna

salad
Last night a friend and I had dinner and I made a salad from my cucumbers and cherry tomatoes with feta cheese and kalamata olives. Very tasty, I made the dressing and added fresh spices.

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
Today I harvested a little each of onions, chard, kale, lettuce, snow peas and a few strawberries. enough to make a salad with hard-boiled organic eggs, and a dessert of strawberries with yoghurt.
Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
couple of nights ago....we had veggie & beef soup
we harvested carrots
and potatoes
and green onions & garlic scapes
some sugar snap peas
some cut up beef.....a can of diced tomato & some celery from the frig....it was YUMMY!....
our five year old said....
*mommy whats the white things in the soup?*.......
knowing how he doesnt like to eat potatoes unless its a fast food french fry.....
i said.... *why whats wrong?*....
he said.... *these white chunks are so yummy!* ....
i said.... *they are the taters you just dug up from the garden*.....
he was surprised as well that he loved them so much.....
so...that just proves that even a five year old can tell the difference from a store bought potato that sits in storage for over 10 months before it even gets to the store....to a fresh from the ground home grown tater!
hugs

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
Rose - Fantastic looking soup! So glad your son has found a new appreciation for taters!
CC - Great crop of carrots and radishes! I love munching on those crunchy veggies.
Like most of the country the heat has kept growth in the garden stifled, but I was able to grab a few strawberries for our waffles this morning - Yum!
I was also able to harvest a few more sweet banana peppers, and finally had enough with the ones I picked last week, to can my first ever jar of pickled sweet banana peppers! Can't wait to get into these in a few weeks.
