The Perseid shower in August is good too, but you probably already know that.llama momma wrote:camprn wrote:There is a good explanation HERE about why the number of observable shooting stars during the 2012 Leonid Meteor shower was less than you may want whilst freezing outside in the predawn hours.llama momma wrote:Anyone catch the meteor shower earlier today? My favorite is the Surgeon's knot because it is quick release. I tie a lot of shoes every week.

Mines the boy scouts shoe tie knot.. simply take the turn around the rabbits ear round twice instead of once and pull through to make the second loop .. they rarely come undone without a decent tug on both of the free ends .

The Mr. Ghost attachment, then, will allow us to locate any number of ghosts, including but not limited to spooks, spectres, shapeshifters, phantoms, phantasms, poltergeists, wraiths, succubi and, of course, invisible zombie children. How handy is that?

Brrrrr , just taken the dog out for his last view of the world tonight .
It's so hot here that the Inuit / Eskimo's have taken their jackets off and lent them to our family as we are so cold! It's a tad windy outside as well .
It's close to minus 8 oC tonight ( 18.5 o F ) , I don't know what the wind chill factor is but it is very goose pimply indeed .

Very Cool. My adult cartoons is watching Ghost Hunters on tv.
Personally I'm too skittish to attract another encounter by using the Iphone attachment. Never believed that stuff until my experience back in 85'. Don't want to attract another encounter

Ok LM you need to spill the beans on your encounter in "85" that makes you remember it so well!
I will tell you my families' encounters. We have lived in our home for 22 years and when my kids were young, at different times they would see a little blond haired boy playing with toys in an upstairs bedroom. They would think he was one of their younger brothers but then see him downstairs. I always believed them and have been grateful our visitor is a child and just wants to play.

Now that is cold! Our weather would be quite hot here in comparison!

Wow, that is incredible. It's either a priviledge or frightening to witness these things I guess. I find you can mostly forget about others believing, unless they have a story too.
Ok my experience was a flying object that belonged to my just deceased Mother. A small but very meaningful personal object of hers flew (on a windless day) maybe 7 feet across her kitchen and hit my arm during my personal extra-tense moment. I knew immediately it meant Chill Out - and it certainly got my attention in a way I'll never forget. I still have this personal momento of hers in a box in the basement. When I come across it I still look at with a wary eye. Bet she's kinda smiling right now

We thought it was a privilege they got to see him. Oh that is so cool your mom getting your attention like that and letting you know to chill out! Boy she had good aim! She was probably a very up-front person while she was alive and let you know her opinion about things. That's great you kept her memento! I think it would be cool to write down the story about it sailing through the air at you and keep it with the object! I bet she is smiling also! I got tears in my eyes and smiled reading your story! Thanks for sharing!

Re: Senseless Banter...
In doubt it is much of an answer for the world as they import zillions of tonnes of USA wheat & rice . The place only has a short growing season in lots of the cooler areas so they have to can/bottle most of what they get to see them through the winters . Some years they are not so fortunate apparently.
I seem to recall that politically the US has used their dominance in global wheat /grain production to bring the hungrier more awkward parts of the world around to their ways of thinking ,
Whether that's a good or bad thing is debatable.

" Tis the season to be Jolly "
Our local primary school has pre school kiddies right through to 11 yr olds ,
tonight was their seasonal play .
As they have had all sorts of themes over the years , this years was voted by the pupils to be the christian nativity story .
Two hour of unbridled fun .
Now we all know that the youngest are usually dressed up in goofy one piece suits that are so hot they nearly pass out . We had OX , ass, sheep, camels , spiders & doves all singing in those off key tones that kiddies of five years do with several shouting loud and clear every word of the song.
Well this caused some amusement , for one kiddie was two words behind the rest and was a sergeant major in training .. I'll give him 10 plus for effort and clarity .
The evening progresses as the story unfolded to three wise men bearing gifts following yonder star . On the last words of " We three king's " they arrive at the door of the stable to hear an angel saying in young clear tones " And the star came to rest over the stable where Jesus was born " .
Suddenly a young girl call's out , " The baby's coming ".
All went quite and a little voice says " Where's the baby , has anyone seen the baby ?"
A six second pure silence pause follows , where upon my 10 yr old daugher ( lead in the show ) said clear as a bell , " Hang on a minute " and she rushes off stage , comes back with a doll out the play group's room and carefully threw it across the stage so it landed in Mary's lap . Munckin then goes bacK to her rostrum on the stage a bit red faced and shrugged her shoulders .
Ever seen 130 adults nearly wetting themselves laughing .. I was one of them.
It brought the house down and took a good 30 seconds for things to calm down and resume.
After the show I said to Munchkin , "You're a dark horse , keeping that bit secret from us though it was really funny " , to which she replied .. it wasn't planned but they need a baby quick ........ so I got them one.
We won't know if it's going to be in the final performance given tomorrow night because Holly will be in hospital getting some big back teeth sorted out a stand in is taking her role , but it should be , it was truly memorably hilarious.

Plantoid, having directed many a "concert" with the youngest students in school and in church, I can fully relate. Even with many hours of preparation - anything goes.
Love you story. has a sense of humor too, you know.
Camprn, I have been following this group on vimeo and on Facebook. That is why when I found this one on their Facebook page I first had to chuckle and then of course listen to it.

Hysterical, would have made a fantastic video! But even better is your daughter had grace under pressure with spontaneous leadership when the others were freaking out. She saved the show! Love it. You've got a take charge type of young lady, maybe a corporate CEO or co. president in the making.

Re: Senseless Banter...
Nah... She wants to become a vetinary surgeon and end up with her own business of more than six practices , a 25 room hotel and a Stabling facility employing around 60 people .
Once she reaches 34 ish she says she is looking to sell it all and move onto childern of her own as well as keeping her loving husband who will also have several practices in animal welfare.
I think she has realized that owing your own business allows you to write your own tax bills and gives you much more freedom than being a CEO etc. plus she's a decent sweet kiddy ( well ........ most of the time )

Ok so I underestimated her ambitions What joy to have kids in our lives and watch them grow. Love the growth stages and the way they learn about and interpret the world, and can be so funny and imaginative. Oh yes, I miss those days. Bring on the grand kids!
