You are such a man!!! JK
And rather than pick it up, I'd probably take the vacuum to the garage for an autopsy to figure out why it wasn't sucking properly
Yes, it's a "guy" thing.
Someone has to pick me up off the floor!!!

Sorry for your loss.
Our pets have become part of the family. My cat is getting up there in years too. He always likes to "help" me in the garden.

I'd like to see a clearer photo.
I'll admit that it's been almost four years (05/30) since my beloved Princess passed over the Rainbow Bridge. I'll never forget her final "meow" while I was pruning my tomatoes. I meowed back, but when I looked at her, her eyes were fixed and staring, and I knew she was
gone.
I picked her up, cuddled her in my arms, and cried.
Hi donnainzone,
I am so sorry for your loss. Your post actually put a lump in my throat. I can very much understand. We lost a 14 yr old lavender point siamese a short while ago. It was very, very hard on us. His name was Beavis. My daughter still keeps a picture of him on her dresser.

Re: Senseless Banter...
Windmere,
Thank you.
I've been having a bit of an anniversary reaction this week. Princess was a beautiful black-and-white tuxedo cat, mostly Maine Coon, and was only 12 when she died of lung cancer. We had an exceptional connection.
Not long after she died, I dreamed that she opened my bedroom closet, and that a horde of different-colored kitties ran out. I like to think she was telling me that I should fill her absence with other cats and to pick any kind or quantity I wanted.
Thank you.

Had to add one more thing....
donnainzone,
I had to respond to your post again for two reasons:
1) What a beautiful dream you had. That must have been very comforting.
2) I had to comment about the fact that Princess was primarily Maine Coon. After our Beavis died, we adopted a Flame Point Siamese kitten (CapeCoddess also has a Flame Point). She has blue eyes is a a bit chunky. Next we adopted a Blue Tabby (she has imprinted on me, and stays where ever I happen to be). Finally, and this is a big reason why I responded, we adopted a gray Maine Coon. He talks constantly. He is the smartest of the three cats we have. He has a favorite toy mouse which he fetches. I was amazed that he fetches. I can tell your Princess was equally intelligent.

My 2 siamese (Choco is gone now, Lilly's still here) play fetch, too! They love little rag balls. I had a blue persian, Sammy, that fetched silver foil balls.

Donna and Windmere
Oh my gosh guys, this is a very hard topic. My heart goes out to both of you. It doesn't take much for emotions to work overtime concerning my 15 yr. old sweet affectionate cat, Daisy, knowing and seeing all too well her better days are behind her, and having nearly lost her from an illness around the holidays. She gets a daily pampered session of grooming, massage, and playtime. I should do a youtube of her grooming, she knows the word brush, and flops herself on the floor in anticipation of the extensive grooming-massage thing. Halfway through gets up stretches herself and comes back for more. She also holds on to me and hugs, never had a cat do this. Yeah, it's very tough to imagine her absence someday.

Re: Senseless Banter...
I'm the one in the family who is plastic wrap challenged. I don't know how many times that I've handed a messed up roll to my wife and said, 'Would you please fix this ^*&%@~# thing.'
Yesterday, in a kitchen not my own, I attempted to individually wrap a dozen pastries in plastic wrap. Not only did it go smoothly, it was fun! The secret was the box; it was one of these:
http://www2.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?prodid=11238604&whse=bd_823&topnav=bd&cat=10875&hierPath=9899*10074*10875*&lang=en-US
In this picture you can see the green circles that I drew. Those are where the cardboard is perforated in order for the user to punch out finger holes, one on each side. They allow the user to grab the end corners of the plastic on each side in order to pull it out smoothly and flat. The box top is wide enough so that when the plastic is cut on the top edge of the box, the end of the roll lays on top of the box a couple inches and doesn't lay back on itself.
The disadvantage is that the box is too tall to fit in my cabinet drawers. Hmmm I wonder what I can fabricate so a regular size box will work the same way?

LOL I would try it 'cause I'm all about function over style. Liz (my wife), on the other hand, is a little more discriminating. (Thank goodness! )
Re: Senseless Banter...
OK .... in that case poke a hole through either end of the box to get access to the tube and tie a nice 2 " wide shocking pink ribbon through so you can hang it on the door /drawer handle ..
Don't forget to make the knot a real big loveable bow with split curled ends .

Re: Senseless Banter...
Pop up rain, lightening, downpour storm drove me back inside..
From info I just looked up re: dewpoint, I'm a below 60% dew point kind of girl, like my humidity around 35% and my high temps around 70 degrees. Someplace on this earth must be comfortable , if I find it I'm packing my bags and I am out of here.

Llama Momma,
Why not join me here in Bend, Oregon? And please bring your llamas. Low humidity most of the time, rarely above 90F in the summer, dry climate, but pretty cold in the winter.
People often describe this city as "paradise." If you doubt this, Google some pictures.

That sounds wonderful! No... perfect! I have no problem with cold temperatures too!
When I was single back in the 1970's I was invited to work in Tillamook and was told it too was beautiful. Wonder if that's near you. But I made a pit stop in Ohio and surprise, got married, kids, and here I sit. Maybe one day we can check it out and retire out there.

Re: Senseless Banter...
Tillamook is near the coast, where it's typically foggy, cloudy, and/or rainy. However, that area is famous for its cheese and other dairy products.
I'm in Central Oregon, about a couple of hours east of Eugene.
Please let me know if you ever plan a visit.

What a lovely thought, sounds like fun! I would visit right now thanks to the powerball winnings but someone in FL stole it away from me, lol. Ah well, I enjoyed the fantasy of winning and visiting.
But I'll keep it in mind. If you are ever out this way you let me know too! I'll make sure you get to hug some llamas.
