Speaking of bacon.....I ate chocolate-covered bacon before. It's got a real interesting taste
Now, I like my bacon, and I like my chocolate, but I am NOT going to pollute either one with the other!

GG, it's actually pretty tasty! I tried a small bit of it around Christmas. I think it was called bark? It was chocolate, butterscotch chips and bacon crumbles.
I hear ya though. Everyone has their preferences when it comes to chocolate. The one I will never get is chocolate and mint... TOTAL destruction of chocolate

I would have to agree! Not a mint fan, and to adulterate my chocolate with it........

I have to diasagree. My favorite is real peppermint ice cream ( not the phony mint like in the mint chocolate chip-ugg) with real hot fudge and whipped cream. Problem is finding real peppermint ice cream. Only a speciality item at Christmas. I still have about a quart left.

I did make a batch of real peppermint ice cream (flavored with real peppermint oil) for a friend, and I have to admit that it was good! But, I still wouldn't waste my chocolate in it!

Re: Senseless Banter...
If an ice cream tastes like chocolate and mint and if there's obvious green food coloring in the ice cream, I don't really care. It's still good to me.
A local mini-market chain makes real good chocolate mint chip ice cream. I love the stuff

When I clicked on that link, the first thing I saw was a recipe for hickory-smoked scalloped potatoes-n-pork with bear lard biscuits. Wow.....that's what I call a meal!

I thought it was only Massachusetts residents that got the one day extension. (We have Patriot's Day, honoring "the shot heard 'round the world" and of course, the Boston marathon.
I could google to see why it is the whole country, but it's so much more fun to ask here. So, I'm asking!

I lived an hour outside of DC for seven years, back in the 70's-80's. Honestly, there would have been a much bigger tendency to boycott Emancipation Day than to celebrate it.
Is it (relatively) new that it closes down the city and the government?
