Re: Holy snow Batman!
Good heavens, Zmoore! You look like the only one to make it to work! My oldest is in Nashville recently relocated from Ohio, and had his first taste of the South With A Big Snow. His big-deal interview got cancelled, whole town screeching halt, they did have 5 or 6 inches he guessed. But you look like you got a lot more! And the blowing and drifting can almost be as bad or worse....
Fun pics! We got nothin'.

Re: Holy snow Batman!
We got a bit of snow this weekend also, only took 2 fulls days to get dug out.
Thanks to the help of a 4 wheel drive John Deere with a front end loader clearing the road.
Around cars was ALL shovel work.
First picture is my car, if you look close you can see the driver's side mirror sticking out of the snow.

There is another car buried under the snow to the right.

This is my front yard... or what is left of it...

Please no more snow for me!!

Re: Holy snow Batman!
A few photos following our record breaking snowfall. This was the most snow received in Ottawa in a 24 hour period since 1947. Total came in at 51.2 centimetres. I realize there have been bigger snowfalls in other parts of Canada and the USA.
SFG beds are buried including the chicken wire cages.

The only tree we have in our backyard.

Looking down the street from the corner of our driveway.

This was taken half way through the storm after I uncovered the Civic.

Looks nice & peaceful, TD... I like looking at snow, but not the cold that goes with it, lol!
Here, we get ice & sleet... I like snow a LOT better. Just don't get it very often.

Re: Holy snow Batman!
milt ... there was some drifting but overall not too bad.
Here are some photos taken today in bright sunshine. Doesn't seem so bad now but the snow is piled high along the sides of the road.

This time of year, a California gardener thinks these photos look so pretty.

Re: Holy snow Batman!
What people living in mild winters 'think' they would do if they had winter snow. Playing in the snow and living all winter with snow are 2 different things, right?

Re: Holy snow Batman!
Nice photo of a snow Snoopy! Very creative.
Living all winter in snow, especially when it is too cold to go out to play in it, is no fun.
Our snow is starting to melt as the high temperature today reaches for 46 F and on Wednesday we are expecting 55 F. I can now see the top of the chicken wire cage on one of my SFG beds. The top of the cage is about 2 feet off the ground so we have a long way to go before the beds themselves are snow free.

I agree with those above about have to deal with snow everyday and playing in it but I sure do miss it. I never had to go to the gym between the winter snow, spring garden, summer garden and mowing, and fall leave and mowing I was set.

I get that, too. Lived in Nashville for 6 years. Ice, no snow. Missed it.

Re: Holy snow Batman!
The snow is melting ever so slowly.
Here is the first patch of visible grass on our front lawn. It's under a tree so there was not much snow accumulation there.

Just one small patch of snow left on the south side of the roof.

Re: Holy snow Batman!
TD, was that middle picture one of your lawnmower left in your garden? I thought you were up to date on your winterizing.

Re: Holy snow Batman!
Nope. My lawnmower is safely tucked away in the shed. That photo was what someone put on the Interweb.Kelejan wrote:TD, was that middle picture one of your lawnmower left in your garden? I thought you were up to date on your winterizing.
Here is a photo taken today from our front porch.

Re: Holy snow Batman!
Your picture looks pretty, TD. I love snow in pictures or behind glass windows.
I notice my neighbours are getting busy putting up lights. I appreciate the ones that are kept up until the end of January. It helps with the gloomy, rainy, weather.
Snow makes us all look the same and makes life brighter.
