Re: Holy snow Batman!
Interesting reading the older post and I once again enjoyed the cartoons.
No snow expected until next Wednesday, instead cold wind that seems to freeze once cheeks and eyeballs and give you a runny nose. I do have a knitted balaclava but fear I would be mistaken for a holdup person.

OK, Marie. Will do. Must makes sure I have my gloves on to keep my fingers warm.
Re: Holy snow Batman!
Okay, everyone is talking about snow and freezing rains. Also, there are flooding situations. How about some photos, folks. ???
Re: Holy snow Batman!
sanderson ... I should be able to get you some snow photos on Tuesday when we are expected to get 35 cm together with 50 Km/hr wind gusts which will create substantial drifting. I just finished getting my snowblower ready. My SFG trellis complete with Christmas lights should look nice in the snow.

Re: Holy snow Batman!
the snow started about 5pm on a driving east wind (that always means bad weather around here). Environment Canada said that the freezing rain would arrive about midnight. It actually started about half an hour ago. By morning my town should look like a scene from Frozen. I have to drive to the nearby city of Owen Sound first thing in the morning, so there should be lots of opportunities for pictures on my way.

The first of my snow photos from today's storm ....
Looking down on the SFG from the comfort of my second floor office ...
The fountain lady is shivering in the cold ...
These look like black and white photos but they were taken with a colour digital camera.

Re: Holy snow Batman!
We are just past the half way mark in this storm which seems to be intensifying as the snow is really starting to come down. It is going to be followed by freezing drizzle. Oh joy Oh joy! Here are some more shots.
Looking out across the neighbours roofs.
From the front porch.
The machine ... a small Ariens.
Looking toward the front porch.
The SFG.
The compost bins are not going to be used now.
We won't be needing the a/c for many months.

We mostly got rain on top of just enough snow to make 4" of heavy wet slush. still aching from shoveling. Applying whisky. No pics.

Some night shots.
This is a weeping pea shrub ... taken with the camera flash on.
Same shot with the flash off.
Front porch with lights along the front of the house.
Approaching the SFG (in the distance) with snowflakes lit up by camera flash.
The SFG trellis with the lights reflected in the snow.

Re: Holy snow Batman!
Yes, it's been a bit cold here for a month or so. It was 10F this morning, and we've had freezing fog, which resembles snow as it falls.
The picture I posted was taken just before Christmas, and it doesn't look much different now. Temps are supposed to be in the single digits the next two nights.
A few days ago, I covered my three rose bushes with a couple of old blankets. I figure the onions, garlic, and strawberries will fend for themselves, as they have in the past--even surviving -15F or more.

Snow Pictures for Sanderson
Sanderson mentioned liking snow pictures on the compost thread. So, here's a few for you Sanderson:
House from the street during snow on Saturday
Icicle wife found on rain barrel
Scraping in progress (bleh)
Street on Saturday, no mail for some reason.
Which way back to the house?
MY girl helping with clean-up on Sunday
Made it to work this morning, parking lot in need of a clean-up
