Yuk! I guess that's the garden version of the fat lady singing.OhioGardener wrote:This is our weather headline for tonight through the weekend: "Arctic blast to bring 'major cold air' to Midwest, Northeast, setting up 'measurable snow' chances."
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
I saw that, OG! Yuk is right...luckily it won’t last for long! A little too early for that to be sustained.

Unseasonably low temps in Vermont right now, sub-zero C!
We have a January-like airmass headed our way! "Novemberuary" is coming! Feels more like the norm for MLK day!

At 7 am here in Ottawa, the temperature is 16F (-9C) and with the wind it feels like 9F (-13C). Must be global warming bringing us this really hot (not) weather.

We're not having that problem here! In the teens at night, and high-30's to low-40's in the daytime - about 20ºF below average for this time of the year.

Yup. The fig trees think it's spring and the tomatoes are going crazy.markqz wrote:Too hot! 85F in November is 12 degrees above average.

We have one more week of summer, then it's "welcome winter" for us, too. No choice here, either.Scorpio Rising wrote:4 inches of snow yesterday/last night...welcome winter! Do I have a choice?

Only in the 20s! (F) This is way below normal!
This is more like the norm in northern Minnesota! Or of course, central Alaska.
Welcome to "Novemberuary" 12, 2019.

Oh baby it's cold outside. Woke up yesterday morning to six inches of new snow. Woke up this morning to bitter cold. At 7am it was 7F (-14C) with a wind chill of -13F (-25C). Please send us some global warming.

I agree, TD! It was actually colder here in southern Ohio than where you are in Ottawa - it was 1ºF here this morning! Where is the global warming when we need it!

Wet , very very wet with a lot more forecast but not as wet as people 90 miles to the northwest of here they have four feet of flood water around Worcester, plenty of floods all over the midlands 7 into Yorkshire where the river Don has seriously over flowed .
Thank heavens I'm 117 mtrs above sea level and a mere 40 feet off the top of the hill in the lee of the prevalent winds & storms there are no streams this high on the hill just a tiny spring at the bottom of the garden some 12 feet below the bungalow .
In the highly unlikely event .... if it floods at the spring many folk will be in serious trouble indeed for the whole of nine miles of the Amman valley would have to fill up first taking out 15,000 or more houses .

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
I have family in Yorkshire, and I have visited York some years ago and show the ling where the river rose. That is why the pubs on the riverside have slate floors.
Many places flood int the UK, I should imagine it is due to the covering up of any place where the water used to drain away. Look how many driveways are slabs of concrete, all the extra houses built, all the roads, and so on.
Where I live near the Columbia River in British Columbia, we have had floods near the river, but I am quite high above any flood danger and I know I am as I have to walk uphill all the way from the city centre. I may complain, but it will take a monstrous flood to reach me and our row of houses. If the water reaches us, then the town will be completely under water.

Gonna be 80 today, 84 tomorrow, then slowly going downhill, but all sunshine for the 10-day. I'm still holding my breath for some more summer crops to come in, but not as optimistic as I was -- still lots of tomatoes, however.
