Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
32 degrees last night! Grrr! Weather report said it would be 44. I didn't bring anything in. Cold, dark, and windy today, so I'm not ever going to look. I can't believe it's April 12 and I haven't even started my garden. My inside starts have all grown together. WAAAAAAAA!!!
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
I usually complain about the weather being too cold or too wet. Today the relative humidity was only 38% at 6pm, earlier in the day it was 47%, the high temp was 88 degrees F, and the wind was out of the south at 15 to 20 mph with gust 25 to 30 mph. The sun was glaring down. If the wind hadn't been so strong it would have been miserable hot.
This is from the National Weather Service for our area through Wednesday next week;
"Windy conditions will continue this evening across the area.
winds of 25 to 35 mph will be possible and gusts to 40 mph.
The windy conditions will produce fire weather concerns,
although moisture will increase through tonight.
Some scattered storms will be possible towards sunrise on
Friday.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday.
Windy conditions will persist into Friday as a strong storm
system slowly moves through the region. Gusts over 40 mph will
again be possible on Friday.
Severe thunderstorms will be possible from around midday Friday
afternoon through Friday evening across much of the area. The
greatest risk for severe storms will occur along and west of an
Osceola to Marshfield to Gainesville line. Isolated supercell
thunderstorms capable of producing all modes of severe weather
will be possible if enough instability can develop. If
instability remains weaker, severe storms will still be
possible, however the overall threat will be lower.
Another freeze is possible Saturday night and again Sunday
night.
Gusty southwest winds of 30 to 35 mph will be possible over
southeast Kansas and western Missouri on Tuesday."

I'll just keep tending my seedlings inside.

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
And here is what Environment Canada says we have in store for us. Please note that this weather system is coming into Canada from the Central Plains States of the USA. Of course, we add our arctic cold air and this is what you get.:
A messy mix of snow, ice pellets and freezing rain this weekend into Monday.
A moisture laden low pressure area over the Central Plains States will amble slowly towards the lower Great Lakes this weekend. As the low gets closer, brisk northeasterly winds will pump in cold arctic air, forcing temperatures to fall to near or below the zero degree mark on Saturday.
Rain ahead of this low will begin this afternoon and will change to snow tonight. Brief freezing rain is possible in a few localities during the change over to snow. The snow will persist into Saturday with total snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 centimetres possible over some areas by Saturday evening. Snow may be mixed with ice pellets at times which may limit the snow accumulation. A lull in the precipitation is likely Saturday night.
As the low gets closer, another area of snow and ice pellets will move into the region Sunday morning before changing to freezing rain late Sunday. The freezing rain may persist into Monday. Some locales could see significant ice accumulations. Ice accumulations combined with gusty northeast winds may result in widespread power outages due to fallen tree limbs and power lines.

My deep apologies, TR. I think you are getting the storm that we had yesterday and is now tapering off. We got lots of slush balls, snow, rain, sleet, ice, yech. At least it is melting fast but I am glad I still have the studded snow tires on the car.

It was Spring Monday!? Not so much now.
Our LFD: April 22 - May 1
The old timers in the area say not to plant until the snow is off Snow Peak! I usually go by that but it is SOOOO hard to wait! So, starting seeds and getting beds ready and finding all the hoses and soaker hoses for when it is FINALLY Spring.

Nasty windy cold rainy day. More like November than mid April.

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Same here. We had rain, thunder, lightning, hail, and it stayed so cold we had a fire going all day long. Low in the mid 30s tonight. Then we get 3 whole days of spring before summer hits this Friday with highs in the 80s from now until it gets even worse. WAAAAA!trolleydriver wrote:Only one word for our weather today.

You would have thought I washed my car, but instead I planted some of the hot weather plants. Strong wind, rain and cold. It's 45*F at midnight here. PS: I did bring the tomato and pepper starts inside for the night.
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Got down to 31 last night, but that's the last of the 30s. The rain is over, too, so now it's time to roll up my sleeves and get serious about my 2018 gardens.
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Currently it's snowing...again...I am beginning to feel that I won't be able to get my garden started at all this year it's going to stay winter forever.

Full blown brief but violent blizzard this morning...now just cold. I have bare root stuff in the garage. I have to get it in this weekend. Just crazy.

Tonight should be our last low below 50. Today I want to finish clean up so I can start planting out, tomorrow.
Re: How's The Weather Where You're At?
We left for Toledo, OH last week. While we were away, nighttime temperatures dropped into the 20s. We arrived home today. It's 70 degrees and sunny. I checked the garden and found that the cool weather vegies (lettuce, spinach, peas, and radishes) are doing quite well. I had watered and fed the indoor seedlings before we left and they also are fine.
Scorpio, it was snowing yesterday as we left Toledo. I wish I could send warm weather your way.

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
I hereby declare the end of winter-like weather here in Canada's capital. The city has put away the snowplows and the street sweepers are on the roads as evidenced by this one that just came past my house. I am so very happy. Then they came by a few minutes later with another vehicle that washed the street. Love to see my tax-payer dollars being put to work.

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
It's happening ... Spring is almost here. When I went outside today I was wondering what the blue colour was up above my head and then there was that strange bright ball.
Currently (6 pm Friday) the temperature is 10C (50F) and that is outside the house.
Heading for 18C (64F) on Tuesday. The really extended forecast is for a long hot summer. Bring it on ... pretty please.
