Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
We have had torrential rains here, but today it is beautiful. 80*F. Typical summer day, but way ahead of the game on rainfall.

Glad to hear it. I was especially concerned about you when I saw the flooding situation up there...
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Another heat wave in the 100s forecast for at least the next 10 days . Dry, hot and heavy pollution. Plants are taking a beating despite the shade cloth.
CC, I'm glad you responded. I saw the news about the Cape flooding.

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Happy to hear you missed the flooding CC.
Here we are having rain showers yet again. The highest temp we are expecting over the next 7 days is 81F and several days will be in the low to mid 70sF. Heat loving plants will continue to suffer.

Wow, TD. NICE temps... Sorry about the heat-lovers, but wish it were that way down here!
80's & 90's here, lots of humidity!

Heat wave 10 day forecast has 5 days over 100, the rest in the 90s. Need to figure out a shade cloth solution soon.

More rain in Ottawa today. In fact as I write this there is quite a downpour taking place. My SFG boxes are going to float away. Everything is saturated. There's a 30% chance of showers tomorrow and 40% chance on Thursday. There is no time for anything to dry out.

Torrential downpour after torrential downpour. We had 4 or 5 inches of rain just today. Unbelievable. Flooding everywhere. We need a break. Temps are normal. Mid 80s. Humid of course.

Cool, foggy/muggy, occasional rain. 67F here at work Chatham. I was thinking of planting some malabar spinach now but maybe I need to rethink that.

The Year of the Big Wet
Here in Ottawa we continue to be WET. The statistics show that for the January 1 to July 31 period this has been the wettest since records started back in 1872. And we still have a ways to go before we get to July 31. We had one stretch of 18 days from June 15 to July 2 when we had rain every day.

Wow TD! I knew you were having a wet year but that's INSANE. Meanwhile, I'm still in an extreme drought.

The usual too much humidity in central Ohio. Try to get all outside garden play finished by 9 a.m.

I woke up this morning to the sound of rain, rain, rain, rain, rain.
Oh the humanity. Will it ever end?
There is more rain in the forecast for five of the next seven days.

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Actually, Hawaii came to me today! After the early morning rain and morning clouds the sun came out and it has been gorgeous. The plants in the SFG seem to be enjoying the sun and heat after the earlier rain and cool temperature. I can almost see the tomato and squash plants growing stronger as a I watch them.CapeCoddess wrote:I think if I were in your shoes I'd have to book a trip to Hawaii, stat!

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Miserable and rainy today. Earlier this was extremely hot and muggy. People say it feels like a sauna when it's hot and humid out, but it literally felt like a real sauna. No breeze whatsoever and I could feel the humidity in my lungs with each breath. Today, totally different story. It's unseasonably cool, I think we barely reached 70 degrees F. Had to wear a spring jacket! Crazy weather. :-p

That means it's heading my way. Sure enough I just checked Environment Canada and the high here on Friday is expected to be 70F with 40% chance of showers and risk of thunderstorm. Unbelievable!Fiz wrote:Miserable and rainy today. Earlier this was extremely hot and muggy. People say it feels like a sauna when it's hot and humid out, but it literally felt like a real sauna. Interesting thing is that Mrs TD and I were in Calgary at this time last year and it rained just about every day we were there and there was flooding at the street intersections. We got absolutely soaked at the Calgary Stampede.

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Yup, it's quite nuts. The bugs must be even more confused than the plants, haha. The temp here is getting warmer overnight. It's always odd when that happens.
Finally popped a weather sticker in my signature. :-p

0500 this morning, beeping from my non-working sump pump wakes me....we got 3 inches in 1 hour!!!! Basement flooded. Rain.
Had to pump 4" out of my pool into the flooded back yard.
Hot. Really strange. Thank goodness I got my yard mowed, mostly.

Wow SR that's a lot of rain in a short time. Hope nothing was ruined in the flood.Scorpio Rising wrote:0500 this morning, beeping from my non-working sump pump wakes me....we got 3 inches in 1 hour!!!! Basement flooded. Rain.

I'm a couple hours south of SR; 2.75 inches for me yesterday on top of last Friday's heavy rain. More this AM as well...

Sudden, unforecasted thunderstorm. Loving the rain, but why'd if have yo come with hail too? Even if they were teeny tiny hailstones.
