Canadian Pacific Holiday Train ... this is at Smith Falls (about one hour from my house).

Another video taken in the same area. The train also visits locations in the USA so it flies both the Canadian and USA flags on the front of the engine.

Re: Senseless Banter...
I have not heard any news about the Holiday Train coming to our town. It came last year on the 14th December. Must check with City Hall.
If it comes in the next few days it will be very cold. Recently we have had very mild temperatures so it would have been pleasant. Now we are getting that deep cold just like most everyone else in Canada. Snow on Monday when temps rise a bit.

I just learned that the silent Mr. Bean was first tested in Montreal, not in the English competition but in the French language competition, to test it's universality. https://www.facebook.com/mr.bean143/videos/1831076267176319/

Re: Senseless Banter...
I cut the tv yesterday. now the phone is next, but found a cheaper way for my landline, that the DW wants to keep. CC, i thought of you about getting "closer and closer". I got the roku and discovered private station.CapeCoddess wrote:I'm getting closer and closer. I bought a refurbished 'Roku' stick for $30 from Amazon over a year ago. It plugs into the HDMI port in the back of the TV. I'm still learning how to use it. My basic cable is only $19 so I'm not in a hurry.

I have been cable free since May, I think. I am not a big tv watcher, but I like the local news in the mornings, and some noise at night.
I had an antenna put on my roof. Farmer vision! Perfect! My cable bill went from $220/mo to $70 for the uber fast internet.

Here is my Fractal Digital TV Antenna purchased from Lee Valley Tools for about $14 Cdn. I mounted it "temporarily" on an ugly piece of plywood. This antenna picks up 10 Over The Air (OTA) stations with it sitting on the floor of our second floor den. It may do better if I put it in the attic.

Ooops! I see one of the connectors has come off the screw. Won't work that way.
Here it is next to the TV for size comparison. It usually sits on the floor. There is a Roku 3 streaming device to the left of the antenna. BTW we still have cable TV but not for much longer.

Senseless Banter...
TD, I thought the one with the two helicopters on the ice floe was the funniest one.
Re: Senseless Banter...
I gotta go with the tennis one for humor!
But, boy, that would be some fancy flying to land on an iceberg.....

OMG, this thread is so educational... and funny!
Hass55, that couples show is awesome! Is that a station you found on the Roku?
TD, those jokes are priceless, as is that funky antennae! The 'some assembly required' snowman photos made me lol here in the office!
Thanks, guys!
Gotta go watch the Ooma vid now...
OK, question: If the power goes out, Ooma won't work, is that right? My land line still works in power outs...

Re: Senseless Banter...
If the power goes out or your internet goes down then you have no Ooma phone. I still love my Ooma. We have a cell phone so that is our backup. If you are concerned about the power knocking out the Ooma box and Internet then you can buy an uninterruptible power supply that will keep things going for a while.CapeCoddess wrote:OMG, this thread is so educational... and funny!
