Very clever the way you were able to adjust the plant heights under the lights.
Re: Newbie Question #3
Just wanted to add something on the hardening off. I didn't do that. I'm in zone 10 and put some stuff out a few weeks ago. A lot of stuff. Like a lot. And I was too busy(lazy) to move them back and forth so I just left them all outside. But I justified it that my patio gets a lot of shade. Plus I was going to be up-potting them so I wasn't sure if I was going to be killing them anyway? I dunno, I can justify laziness if I try. But they survived not hardening off. Then they survived up potting. So I'm happy.
So I thought maybe being in Southern Cali, maybe you didn't -Have- to harden them off either?

My guess is that it is more important to keep from sun scald at first. A light cover of cheese cloth for filtered shade should handle that.

Re: Newbie Question #3
I took mine outside one day and started planting them the next day. I'm in zone 8b-9a. Now I'm trying to get them all mulched.bbroomm wrote:

Turan has a point about some light shade (cheese cloth, sheers). Boy we folks in temperate areas just have it rough.
