boffer, you are a man of many parts.
We all are, but some of us have sheers on the windows, and some of us have black-out curtains!

You sure did, Martha. I wondered what on earth you were on about then realized that the link above may not have been about dancing. So I looked.

Re: Senseless Banter...
I began ballroom dancing at age 13 at a Salem, OR church. There, I met a boy who became a long-term crush and whose interests influenced my life. When I'd step on his feet, he'd apologize. What a gentleman! We never dated, however....
Flash forward to 1973. I'd just broken up with my first boyfriend since my divorce. A neighbor couple gave me a gift certificate to Arthur Murray. Suffice it to say that I was quickly hooked by my instructors' charm!
Ultimately, I earned nine gold awards at Dance-o-Ramas. After the studio closed, I began taking International lessons at an independent studio.
In 1986, when I started skiing, I realized I couldn't afford both, and chose the ski slopes.
Now that I'm retired, I've purchased a new pair of dance shoes and plan to take up this avocation again.

I often check on the number of posts I have made and compared the number reached with dates in history.
1066 and all that. 1666 Great Fire of London. WWI and II.etc
Then one day I reached my birth year. Now I am following the years with my own timeline until I reach 2014 .
Then I will wonder what the future holds. For all of us, not just me.

How fun and interesting!
When you get past 2015, you can start making predictions for each year!

So your 1950 posts = the year 1950
It was a very historic year . The genius Plantoid was born into this world at time of the winter solstice.

Now this was an exceptional year! (Except for the butt-ugly Chevys that Detroit turned out that year.)

2014 is another good year. I have no children but my sister balanced things out. I am now a Great-Great-Aunt to Alisha, Great-Grand-Daughter to my sister.

Re: Senseless Banter...
Christmas puppies!
Born early Friday morning.
We've never seen mama with such a hang-dog look. Her maternal instincts are above average, but her usual self-confidence is lacking.
So little that they don't even have puppy breath yet.
This has been an interesting experience for us because my wife decided to purchase 6 year old frozen semen located in Minn. Shipping was a bit more complicated than getting meat from Omaha Steaks! Not many vets in my area have the equipment and know-how to handle the frozen semen properly. It took many more trips to the vet than a typical pregnancy in order to determine the best timing for everything.
Dalmatians have a typical litter size of around 6. Initially, we could see 4 puppies on the ultra-sound, but 2 were absorbed by the mother. Litter was 2 males. Despite mom having a surplus of teats, they are already fighting over the same one. Typical boys!
The pups are very generic looking. We can see the spot pigments on the skin, and they will begin to show as the hair grows in.

Re: Senseless Banter...
Congratulations, and bubblegum cigars to all!
What do you mean by they all look generic? No exotic spots? I hope Mama starts feeling more herself.
And that breeding routine via FedEx can get really interesting. I've only gone through it with my horse, never a dog. My foal was done using fresh semen.
I was going to breed her for someone else to have the baby, but she never took. That time was using frozen semen. Could have been the vet's skill, or just luck, because with horses there is far from a 100% conception rate.

Re: Senseless Banter...
Liz has had multiple litters of Old English Sheepdogs, and one previous litter of Dalmatians. She said that at this age, the puppies are nearly indistinguishable between the two breeds.
I don't know how they perform AI with frozen semen on horses, but it was a 5 minute procedure under general anesthesia to inject the semen directly into the Fallopian tube.

No anesthesia, but the parts are a bit larger with horses!
