Being politically correct is dismissing and stuffing your honest thoughts. I'm old enough not to care to be pol correct. When we can't disagree then we've lost our freedom of speech.

YEP! I totally agree!greatgranny wrote:
I don't know about anyone else but I'm really sick of the politically correct agenda going on in this world.
We tell folks that "we're not the most p/c couple in the world." Usually gets a good laugh & agreement. (Our friends already know. Thank goodness they're the same way!)

Political correctness is nothing more than the antithesis of free speech. Those who resort to it either have no valid arguments, thus must resort to stifling the thoughts of others; or they are simply control freaks who have no respect for individual liberty.
Very close to the PC group (insert expletive of your choice) is the group who espouse that insult and objectification are evils against which all men are inherently to be protected. (Choose another or use the same expletive here.)
Both are used by pettifoggers who are otherwise non-contributing members of society.

Pettifoggers???? Great word, insert wherever? Like gimcracks and geegaws and whatyamacallits? Too funny!
PC is just respect for others. We are gardeners here to help each other. So understand when someone gets riled up, but there are so pretty nice folks here, me thinks.

Re: Senseless Banter...
While I was outside yesterday morning, I heard a loud WHOOMP that made me jump. The sound was deep and low, the kind you can feel. I walked around the house, didn't see anything amiss, so I shined it on. This morning I found the source out in my back garden: a 60 foot snag fell down. No wind or rain, it just decided it was time.
The top hit a hoop and broke the screws holding the hoop bracket on, and broke two leaves off a broccoli plant, but it will be fine.
I'm thinking I should go buy a lottery ticket!

In my case, in more ways than one, that's definitely not the right definition!
One definition of snag is 'a standing, dead tree'.
Re: Senseless Banter...
So the non-snag had a snag snag a hoop bracket and broccoli leaves on it's way down.

PS What is a snag?
I think it could be termed a "widow maker" in forestry speak?
You sure were lucky, boffer.
I was as well, earlier this year, when a snag came down and missed my gas meter by about two inches. I could not lift even one end of that branch. That is when I decided that my trees had to come down and from that I started BTE gardening in addition to my SFGing.

Precisely...I think!sanderson wrote:So the non-snag had a snag snag a hoop bracket and broccoli leaves on it's way down.
I was going to say widow maker but I couldn't remember if it referred to a tree or a limb. Maybe both?Kelejan wrote:...

I'm glad you were able to make lemonade from lemons. Those wood chips are certainly versatile.
