A Tribute to the Solstice
Today, being the first full day of summer, I picked the first tomato from my TT and put it into a homemade gazpacho made with tomato juice, white wine vinegar, EVOO, salt pepper, a tiny dash of Worcestershire, chopped tomato, onion, bell pepper, minced garlic, and store-bought seasoned croutons.
Yummmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Cold Gazpacho is my favorite food. But I use cold consume soup and Italian dressing to make the soup part instead of the tomato juice. What is EVOO.

EVOO = Extra Virgin Olive Oil. A Rachel Rayism, or at least she's the one who made the "word" popular by constantly using it.

But I didn't get it from RR. I'm a bit of a foodie and just about everyone uses the term to shorten recipes

Recipe for Gazpacho
Submitted to Food Network by Ina Garten
Personally, I cut back a bit on the white wine vinegar or add sugar to offset the tartness. Cilantro leaves that have been washed, dried and chilled then cut to about 3/8" chop is also good. I use green bell peppers because that is the way it was served in Madrid when I worked there in the summer of '92. Also, croutons are great in the soup. I prefer the small, unflavored ones; but use any that suit you.

I kind of forgot about gazpacho over the winter, but now that you've reminded me, I've got a hankering and can't wait!

RH, Can you post the recipe in the Recipe section? It's kind of lost in this topic, Senseless Banter.
Re: Senseless Banter...
Sure. It didn't start out to be a recipe but kinda turned into one.sanderson wrote:RH, Can you post the recipe in the Recipe section? It's kind of lost in this topic, Senseless Banter.

Re: Senseless Banter...
She couldn't take it any longer. Snatched this while my back was turned from the pile of cukes harvested this morning. Whenever I say "leave it" she does. Not today. She ran into the house and sort of owned it. I tried to take it and she just looked at me like, "Aw c'mon. If I hadn't made sure the "big mysterious nothing" stays away from the garden, this might not even be here."
I couldn't argue with that.
Dogs do enjoy cucumbers, zucchini and carrots, so be forewarned.

One of our dachshunds used to 'steal' carrots. She loved them.

My cat likes corn stalks and bean leaves, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised that dogs like veggies.

Dogs do like and can eat most (not all) veggies being a scavenger species.
I have cats too and they will surprise you with what they'll decide they like to eat.
Raisins, potato chips, fig newtons....

Afraid I may have opened a can of worms giving in to sad looks.
As usual, and afterthought.
They're too easy to spoil aren't they.

Now that's a line up of odd kitty food likes.
At least he/she left you the rejects...the yellow tipped ones.

But.... But....
My brother and I liked ONLY the green-tipped ones! Pixie was confiscating the only bananas we would eat.

Heard a terrible strange barking sound coming from the street in front of the house just now. I ran outside and in the road was a beautiful fox standing there barking at Lilly, my white cat! Lilly was not concerned at all until I started panicking because the fox wasn't leaving even tho I & my neighbors were standing around watching it. Lilly finally sauntered up to me. l brought her inside and googled 'Fox barking at cat what does it mean'. I've always referred to foxes as 'DANGER' when Lilly and I watch them out the window but apparently I have it backward. The first bark on this video nails the sound it was making:

Those fox sounds
were remarkable. Someone did a lot of research. We don't have foxes here however.

Re: Senseless Banter...
OK, so I'm guessing everyone and their brother knows this but me, BUT when you get the pollen on the pants:
You put the pants in the sun for a few minutes to a couple of hours and the pollen disappears!
Where the heck does it go???
I just did it at lunch with some peach shorts which I'm wearing now, and before coming back to work I left some ruined (I thought) white pants out there to see if it works with them.

Headline on Internet today
A gardening talk show in England has been accused of racism because of the layers of racist expressions. Read this today on BreitBart, London.
Popular Gardening Show is Racist Because It Talks About 'Non-Native' Species, Says Academic
On a par with saying the white smoke from Thomas the Tank Engine was racist compared to the black smoke from the Diesel engines., and changing the words of Baa Baa Black sheep to Baa Baa Green sheep.

I don't know about anyone else but I'm really sick of the politically correct agenda going on in this world.Kelejan wrote:A gardening talk show in England has been accused of racism because of the layers of racist expressions. Read this today on BreitBart, London.

I think academia has way to much influence in our lives.
I'm a music teacher. I wonder what the schools would do if I was still teaching and I taught some of the songs I used to teach to the elementary students. I can think of quite a few that would be banned now.
