Ooh, I had my first ripe tomato last night and it was SO yummy!!. It was a Dixie Sweet (of course, LOL). I'm not prejudiced though. I grow all kinds of tomatoes & most of them are starting to change color. This one was almost 2#, but the 2 of us ate every last bite of it. You should have seen the eyes rolling back & facial expressions of pure Heaven. Now, if my corn would just get ready. Silks are brown, but the ears haven't filled out yet.

that sounds so exciting !! We have had some brandy wine and creole tomatoes for the last couple of weeks. Im so excited this is my best year for produce !! I cant wait to have some from the seeds you sent us Smile

I have named them Dixie's surprise, if they are the Dixie Sweets I will change the name.
Are the Dixie Sweet the ones we got from you last year? I have some pretty seedlings I started a bit back to keep me in tomatoes on into fall Smile

I had planted 12 seeds, 10 germinated lost a few to some bug and I have 6 healthy tomato plants and ! I was able to give a seedling away Smile

Josh named them Dixie Sweets, but you can call them Mud if you want. They are the ones in my avatar photo. I'm rooting some suckers for later tomatoes.

Yes Im trying to let a sucker on each plant grow to become my new main vine to get later tomatoes on the established plants. I do have some suckers from other plants Ive taken to give away to others though. Its good to hear you have tomatoes Smile

Dixie I was so excited about YOUR tomatoes that I shared a few of the seedlings I started. One plant went to one of my dog walking clients, she took a master gardeners course, and has a bright green thumb and a love of veggies. When I talked to her the other day she couldn't believe how big her plant was already! She was amazed at how thick the main vine was and that I started it by seed. She said she is going to save some seeds this year so she can continue to have this awesome plant (even if we aren't lucky enough to have ripe tomatoes yet). Thank you so much for sharing Dixie I have really enjoyed watching this plant develop!!

My Dixie Sweet are doing great! They are nice and tall with good strong vines. I even have 4 tomatoes on them now, they are only about 3-4 inches across but they are lookin' good!

Thanks for the great seeds! I'll be sure to save some for next year.

I had some major trouble getting my Dixie's to germinate, I am sure it was something i was doing wrong, this was my first year doing seeds ahead of time.

But in the end after some not germinating and a accident that had 3 dixie casualties I ended up with 1 seedling and it is strong and growing fast and has blossoms on it!

How long from blossom to fruit on toms? Anyone know? I am scared fall will be here before I get a ripe one since our spring was so cold and toms couldn't go out until so much later than usual.

I can't even wait to eat one!
