I love NC!
Today it was 66 degrees in North Carolina. I have some serious spring fever right about now. My daughter and I created a mini-greenhouse for our raised beds last weekend, and today the soil was ready for some plantin.' We planted snow and sugar snap peas. She is the best garden helper ever :-)

Awwww. How sweet! I hope the weather holds out - it is late enough - it could. Gotta love spring!
Re: I love NC!
Yeah Spring. Your helper looks so cute with her elephant watering can. We KNOW how much she likes those lettuce leaves and sugar snap peas.

Re: I love NC!
oh it was wonderful wasn't it! I set up my hoop house a couple of weeks ago, and at that time, the top inch of my other sfg's was frozen. No more - I amended my boxes this weekend, and placed plastic over a bunch of squares that I want to warm up - planted some chard and fava directly in the garden, and my kitchen and spare room are full of little seedlings and boxes waiting for germination.
cool again today but Wed is supposed to be in mid to high 60's - my enthusiasm can't be contained, I will just need to be diligent for any very cold frosts that might damage my hoop house babies

I have to teach tonight, so my garden helper (and daddy) will need to cover the beds. I am ready for the 60 degree temps again on Wed!

I love your green house!! Keep us informed as you go along. The weather in the south is a part of what makes me love living here too!! We have had in the late 60s and in the low 70s this winter. Spring is around the corner !!

I, too, have your spring fever. However, I am watching freezing rain fall that is supposed to cripple St. Louis, MO, tonight and tomorrow....probably Wednesday, too. It will be hard to look at the garden, much less work in it, with half an inch of ice on the ground and 4 more inches of sleet AND 4 more inches of snow falling on top of that crazy little sandwich.

Oh wow. I didn't realize it was that bad. *hugs* I too love NC, and over dressed to pick up dinner. 63 degrees at 5pm, oh it was heaven. Too bad it's all chilly again now.
Re: I love NC!
We made a list this weekend ranking who hated winter the most - George the basset hound who shivers outside when it is less than 50 degrees outside one first place. Fred the cat who is only our friend when it is below freezing earned second. I came in third :-)

Howdy: And in the running is our cat Tabby. She is at least 16 years old and an outside cat except in the winter. She even stayed outside in a hurricane driven rain, but, just let the first frost hit!
God Bless, Ward and Mary.
