A Word Game Anyone?
Anyone ever play that game where you start with the letter A and the first person says a destination (ie. country, town, city, continent) that starts with A, like Afghanistan. Then the next person has to list a destination that starts with the last letter of the previous answer. So in the case of Afghanistan the next person would have to name one that starts with N. No repeating previous answers.
What about a gardening twist?
Name a plant. Begin with A. No repeat answers. Use the singular of the plant when you can to avoid ending in S, otherwise we might run out of S plants FAST!
BUT THE TWIST IS: provide info about the plant you choose. It could be a link to an extension office's page that tells you all you ever wanted to know about the plant, or you could copy and paste from a source.
Anybody want to play?
I will go first.
Asparagus

http://urbanext.illinois.edu/veggies/asparagus.cfm
This should be a fun and intersting thread.....
(Edited to include suggesting the singular use idea.)

Re: A Word Game Anyone?
So many veggies end in "S", we may want to use the singular of the word?

Re: A Word Game Anyone?
I will do that. Since "Strawberry" ends with Y, I will pick yam. Found an interesting site that is a page from the Jamaican Food Festival: http://www.stea.net/tyfaboutyam.html
Yam, not sweet potato (though technicaly I could have used that as the word was Strawberries)

That is a good point Megan. I don't mind if you do that Chopper but since it is Jennie's thread and game should we get her permission?

Re: A Word Game Anyone?
Q is for SFG Quiche
Quiche is a very versatile dish. Challenge yourself to make a quiche from as many of your SFG vegetables as possible (not necessarily all in the same quiche, though!)
One thing still going strong in my SFG is Swiss Chard. Two days ago I made a Chard & Feta quiche/tart starring Swiss Chard. It was delicious! Hubby and I love Greek/Mediterranean food, so this was definitely one I had to try.
Here is the one I made: http://www.eatingwell.com/recipes/chard_feta_tart.html
The only change I made was to use dried oregano in the crust. The olive oil crust was so tasty, I rolled out the leftover dough and made crackers from it.

Re: A Word Game Anyone?
OK I'm confused, are we supposed to use the last letter of the named plant or the next sequential letter after the last letter of the named plant? I am so bad at following directions due to ADD.

Sorry, folks! Apparently, I am the one that messed up! I didn't read the instructions through before posting. Oh well! I was just being creative with the letter Q.
Enjoy the quiche recipes anyway!
