I am another new SFG from San Antonio! This is my first season. Although I have a lot to learn, it has been a GREAT pleasure so far. My seedling are pathetic, but I am proud of them just the same. I just planted my tomato seedling in their squares outside this afternoon. The spinach is doing great, but I am so proud of them, I have not harvested any yet. Howdy from TX! Icon_lol

Besides being so wet behind the ears, I have MAJOR wind storms to deal with. Hopefully I will be able to get through them.

Before the change to the new forum there was a thread on wind damage in the garden. It was suggested that the gardener build wind breaks to help divert the wind around the boxes. As I recall the recommendation was a wind break at least as high as the tallest garden plant.

Please keep us posted on your progress.

God Bless, Ward.

Howdy from TX! Empty Wind breaks

Post  aquafern 3/12/2010, 10:28 am

Thank you so much for the info. I have been thinking of plans and ways to work on this. It's like Yin and Yang when it comes to gardening. In Texas I have all the sun I could ever want. Yet, the wind to counteract it. I'll try to get some pictures up if I build something.
