What to plant now for Zone 10
Hello Everyone! How's it growin? Sorry I've been scarce lately. I've been a bit overwhelmed with starting my own business. I hope you're all staying safe and doing well!
I wanted to share my new YouTube channel (part of my new business) and my first video with you on the subject of starting a Victory Garden for the summer in zone 10. And please "like," share and subscribe!

Awesome video!
I'd love to see a tour of your gardens in one of your future videos.

You're the second person who has suggested that! I'll add that to my list of videos for the future for sure! Since I kept mentioning my green smoothies, someone suggested that I do one on how I make those. I'm thinking that will be the next one I do. My garden is in transition for the summer, so I will probably do a summer garden tour, and then a winter tour since the two are so different. Thanks for the suggestion!

David!!! Great to see you again! Your garden (and video) look awesome! Did you ever manage to keep that French Tarragon alive in the heat of S. Fla?

Thanks Molly! Good to see you too! Unfortunately that tarragon didn't last long here. But we tried, and your mom was so sweet and generous! What I grow here that is very close in smell and taste is the Mexican tarragon, also called mint marigold or Mexican marigold.mollyhespra wrote:David!!! Great to see you again! Re: What to plant now for Zone 10
Thank you sanderson! I just responded to someone's comment on my video that she should check out this forum and read Mel's book. SFG is still very much a part of my garden, which I'll be covering in a future video. I've also been asked by the Equality Garden Club (120 members) to be their first Zoom meeting speaker on May 20th on the same subject. I'll record and edit that meeting, and will post that on the Stack's Urban Harvest YouTube page as well.sanderson wrote:Great video, David!

Very informative video, DStack! And hi, btw... It's great to see you!
Moringa - would it do well in a large pot?
Also, are you involved at all with Ari Whitten or John Robbins & that crowd? Would love to see you part of the Food Revolution Summit, etc....

Re: What to plant now for Zone 10
Hi AtlantaMarie! Yes, especially the Dwarf Moringa that I have would work well in a pot. I bought the seeds from Baker Creek. I'm not familiar with those guys, but I'm working closely with Jeffrey Smith of the Institute for Responsible Technology. He is working from the anti-GMO side of the revolution. I'm very excited about a short documentary I'm editing for him that has a lot to do with Elaine Ingham. I can't wait for this to be released!AtlantaMarie wrote:Very informative video, DStack! I didn't know there was a dwarf moringa.... Hmmmm.... Gotta love BC.
Elaine Ingham - I think I've heard her mentioned before.

Re: What to plant now for Zone 10
My dwarf moringa still towers above my rooftop even though I keep cutting it back, but they don't get quite as large as the typical variety, and the pods on mine get up to 32" long! I have pickled the tender young pods and that turned out delicious! I have also steamed them. Elaine Ingham is a soil biologist who is very popular among the organic and permaculture communities. She has founded Soil Food Web... soilfoodweb.com. Her work has been critical for the planet. I don't want to sound hyperbolic, but you'll have to check out this short film when it's released to get the full story. I don't want to give away too much yet. The feedback has been so good that there's no turning back. I will be doing more, and I'll share with my forum family here. I would love to do a video for my channel with a Skype or Zoom interview with a certified SFG member of this forum. I'm open to nominations.Scorpio Rising wrote:Truth! Victory Gardens - Growing Food in Zone 10
A local garden club, of 140 members asked me to be their first Zoom meeting speaker, and my subject: Victory Gardens - Growing Food in Florida Summer Heat. So this next video is mostly the edited version of that meeting, with some added visuals to keep it interesting.
My list of topics I plan to cover keeps growing, including SFG of course. And I welcome feedback on what I should cover. Anyone who has followed my posts here know my turmoil with root knot nematodes. So that is near the top of my list as I'll be showing how I solarize my beds. I already have the first of three beds solarizing, as of last weekend.

Hey, that was a good video, David. I'm going to steer a cousin to your channel. He's been increasing his gardening pursuits and I think he'd enjoy adding some of those plants to his yard. He's in the Kendall area iirc.

Episode #3: 4 Things I Wish I Knew (When I Started Gardening in S. Florida)
SFG is at the top of my list I wish I knew when I first started gardening in Florida. I touch on SFG, but I'll want to do a deeper dive on the subject in a video in a few months. The video will premiere at the top of the hour tonight (7:00 EST). I would love your feedback!
It would be ideal for me to find a Certified SFG Instructor that I can ask questions via Zoom. Please let me know if you recommend someone.

Re: What to plant now for Zone 10
Thanks. BTW, at this point I have no sponsors and I'm not making money at all. Eventually my hope is that my channel will qualify for the monitized status, and I'm open for sponsorship only for products that...
1) I would use, or do use
2) I would recommend
