That's what I've been doing for 2 days. May have to take out a 2nd on the house and maybe start a GoFundMe page, but I'M BUYING!sanderson wrote:Baker Creek catalog arrived! Can't wait to cuddle up with it.

P. 22 - Blauhilde Purple Beans
P. 23 - Dragon Tongue

Can you believe I'm only on the "B"s? I had already decided not to buy anything new for 2018 when this irresistible temptation appeared in my mailbox.

Re: 1st Seed Catalog Arrived :)
I got two one yesterday & one this morning .
The expensive one was ordered via the internet . the cheap one is an automatic reorder every year we buy their seeds .
What has irked me is that both are doing the 60 seeds of £ 1.99 ( $ 3 ) when two years ago it was 250 or 750 for £1.50 .
Still it's cheaper than buying 60 cabbages at £ 0. 89each & I'll have fresh seed for the next three years as well .
I've kept back broad , runner , dwarf French beans , marrow fat , mange tout peas & garlic . Money maker , , sunburst . beefsteak tomatoes & Josh's giant cabbage seeds from this years crops so things areen't going to be so expensive .

I have grown the blauhilde beans, excellent and easy to find. Charentais melons are great. Atomic red carrot not a fan. Pretty, though.

Uh-oh -- why not the Atomic red carrots? If they aren't wonderful, I don't want to waste time, space, and water on them.Scorpio Rising wrote:I have grown the blauhilde beans, excellent and easy to find. Charentais melons are great. Atomic red carrot not a fan. Pretty, though.

Re: 1st Seed Catalog Arrived :)
Nutz! I went back and re-read the description. It says "very flavorful" but it doesn't mention sweet. What sold me was the nutritional info, but if we don't like the flavor, we won't eat them, so what's the point? OTOH, it says they're best cooked, and Hubby can make anything taste good when he cooks it, so maybe I'll still give them a chance.Scorpio Rising wrote:Just not sweet at all. Re: 1st Seed Catalog Arrived :)
I planted a different variety last year in the BTE and they were awesome! My only complaint is that I should have planted more. The idea was to harvest some for dried beans and seeds, but the fresh ones were soooo good, there weren't any left for anything else. I also tried Mama somethings, to get big butter beans, but those never even sprouted. I'll keep you posted on these.Scorpio Rising wrote:Fun!
