Re: New Seed Catalog !!
Thanks for posting this, I just placed my order. I really don't need much of anything in seeds....
But I'll look JUST IN CASE there's something I can't live without

Re: New Seed Catalog !!
I just got mine too. Gorgeous cover and beautiful throughout.
There's a big section on heirloom apples, too, that is pretty cool. There are so many interesting heirloom apples, and so many are hovering close to extinction. They highlight one apple as winning a taste test last year, and it's probably the ugliest apple I've ever seen. They say it looks like a bad potato, and they're right! Maybe not fit for the supermarket, but I'd sure like to try one.

Re: New Seed Catalog !!
We have an orchard near us that grows heirloom apples of several different varieties, some of which were listed in the SSE catalog. They grow Roxbury Russets, blue Permain and a bunch of others I don't remember right now. We used to buy them for our restaurant. None of them were as ugly as these, though…

Home Garden Catalog
I love when these arrive. I thumb thru them right away so I can see what I might want to get new this spring. Such fun.

Re: New Seed Catalog !!
I'm still waiting!!!! I really need to write a list of what I really do need (not what I covet) before they show up and my "must-have-it-can't-live-without-it-reflex" gets out of control, LOL!
I know I want some egyptian walking onions and some purple onion sets.

LOL! I know what you mean!
We went to the Baker Creek CT store last summer. I only got about 1/3 of my list & it was $90!! Needless to say, DH was a bit disturbed...

Atlanta Marie, don't you know better than to let your DH know how much you spent?

Unfortunately, nature calls at inopportune times... sigh.....
Re: New Seed Catalog !!
I just got the Irish Eyes catalog. I first ordered from them in 1989 back when they were Garden City seeds based in Missoula Montana (my dad would get his tomato starts from them at the farmers market). They have had a rather complicated history that includes Ronniger's (which has now merged with Potato Gardens). There was some sort of soap opera involved and at one time I cared but have since forgotten. Now I am drooling over various potato varieties. Later I will see if they have any seed I want.
I try to keep my orders to two catalogs because of the S/H costs are usually prohibitive. Right now I am juggling between Territorial, Johhnys and Irish Eyes.
Last year I tried out Bakers seeds was less than thrilled and disliked the free seeds they sent me (totally inappropriate for my area and I would of preferred less S/H instead of seed I did not want). That conclusion is partly my own fault. Bakers is a heirloom seed company, which is all very good and well, but when you are trying to grow things outside of their niche climate a hybrid is a much better choice. Then you can work on selecting for what can become a heirloom best for your own climate niche.

I am addicted to seed porn! Somebody sponsor an intervention before my dreams get out of control and I buy even more seeds than the ones that it would already take me 20 years to use up!

Admitting you have a problem is the first step to curing an addiction!
I am sure I have 20 years years worth, especially in the survivor seed canisters.

Re: New Seed Catalog !!
I'm not home to see if any catalogs have come it, so I'm getting my kick out of checking out the websites. My SIL likes Burpee and I was looking to send him a gift card for Christmas when this popped up on the screen. I immediately thought of all you PNW and northern clime gardeners.

Also note the corn on the deck hybrid and the 4th of July tomatoes.
