Some beautiful Merlot Leaf Lettuce. Had a Chef Salad for dinner last evening, and used all of the lettuce so had to pick some more. Very Happy

This is my first year growing the Beit Alpha cucumbers, and we are loving them.  We are picking one or two a day from the greenhouse.

Beit Alpha is the best, in my opinion, followed closely by Muncher. I grow both.

Garlic scapes!  I see some yummy pesto in my future!  I love pesto….basil, or scapes are my faves.  Sometimes I add in some extra flat-leafed parsley or some cilantro leaves, too.

Picked some Black Seeded Simpson and Merlot lettuce for a beautiful Chef Salad. We are loving the deep red Merlot leaf lettuce. I received the first package as a gift from Baker Creek last year, but we fell in love with it so much that I had to order more seeds.  It is our favorite leaf lettuce, and it is even better that it resists bolting.

Also picked some more Rhubarb stalks, some of which will go into a pie and the rest will go into the freezer.

Odd, never have heard of peas not germinating.  I planted the seeds the first week of April, after soaking them overnight, and they all sprouted within a week.  I may have planted them a little to thick, though.  I planted them on the 12' arbor with 3" spacing. They have grown so thick that picking them is a real challenge. Very Happy

I have had something (birds, probably) dig them up and eat them, but there is obvious disturbance of the MM.  Not in this case.  And they were new seeds.  I will have to try them this fall.  They are a blush type color…I’ve got nothing!

Picking abundance of New Zealand spinach, first ever Cherokee tomato, small Everglades tomatoes, celery, green onions, poblano peppers, Italian cherry tomatoes, bell peppers,  banana peppers, and herbs galore. Very late rainy season starting now so crops are slowing from the heat and heavy rain.  Hope everyone is enjoying theI garden. Mine is just 5 4X4 raised beds and some plants in pots.

Picked another batch of Sugar Snap Peas, and the Ruby Red Swiss Chard. The tornadic winds we had a couple days ago ripped all of the pea plants off of the arbor and flattened them against the soil. That made picking the peas a lot more work, but they are well worth the effort.

I've been picking Blue Lake pole beans daily for 2 weeks.  Thank goodness only 4 squares with 2022 beans germinated or I'd have a problem keeping up.  Last night, I cooked them with garden tomatoes, bacon and onions, salt and pepper.  I was introduced to this recipe while visiting SC last October.
Another 2 weeks and they will be done, despite putting up the overhead shade cloth. What Have You Picked From Your Garden Today - Page 13 Green_12
