Re: Eagle eggs ready to hatch in nest
The two birds are still around, just sitting on branches watching the traffic pass by.
Until they did that at night, I did not realise how light it is with the streetlights and traffic.

Re: Eagle eggs ready to hatch in nest
From the little info I was able to get an owl attacked the two the other night. 8 went to the ground and was enjoying the sights..No one seems to know more and they aren't speculating, that is the powers to be.

Re: Eagle eggs ready to hatch in nest
Wasn't 8 the one that was taken from the nest because of the entanglement it had with some plastic?
It looks like it may have been in vain.![Sad](https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/icon_sad.gif)

Recent news from the website:

It would be great if it is E8. If was sad not knowing where (s)he is was. Heal and set free would be a good ending.

Let's hope that it is third time lucky for E8.

Re: Eagle eggs ready to hatch in nest
From the website "CROW UPDATE: E8 has been quiet, alert and responsive. Was fed soft pieces of rat today and observed ‘hock’ sitting or laying flat. E8 moved to larger enclosure to encourage movement. Receiving pain meds. Positive signs, but remains critical and guarded." " TD RANT: I wish people would not use "laying" (as in laying eggs or to be put in a horizontal position) when they mean "lying" (as in lying down or being in a horizontal position). |

Keeping fingers crossed for E8.
Re: Eagle eggs ready to hatch in nest
Update from tw0 days ago on E8.
5/20 CROW Update: Condition upgraded to guarded. Fracture site, pin placement looks good. Moving to a soft solids diet. Encouraged that E8 bears weight on leg and uses foot and claw normal fashion - indicates normal nerve function.
Go, E8!

Re: Eagle eggs ready to hatch in nest
While I'm happy E7 is progressing to finding his own snacks, I'm relieved that little E8 now has a chance.

Re: Eagle eggs ready to hatch in nest
The cameras will be closed down on May 29th. there is little to look at now that E7 is winging his way to freedom and E8 is still in care.
Something to look forward to next year. Thank you jimmycee for posting this link. I have thoroughly enjoyed it.

Yes, that was so interesting. Maybe one of us will come across another cam in the meantime. There are all kinds of critters out there we can spy on.

Re: Eagle eggs ready to hatch in nest
There was a nest in the Hanover area of Pennsylvania, this past winter into early spring. Two eggs were laid, eagles sat and sat and sat...eggs did not hatch so the adults abandoned, probably try again next timeCapeCoddess wrote:Yes, that was so interesting. Re: Eagle eggs ready to hatch in nest
Update on E8
E8 Update: #E8 has been moved to the small flight enclosure outside to give the eaglet more room to spread its wings and help build strength in its right leg. The move outside is to also encourage E8 to eat on its own without assistance. If E8 continues to improve over the next couple of weeks the next step will be to remove the pin from the femur.

Re: Eagle eggs ready to hatch in nest
Thank you for the update. I assumed (incorrectly) that the site had gone off air now that E7 left.
Re: Eagle eggs ready to hatch in nest
Update on E8 from yesterday:
E8 UPDATE: E8’s leg infection has improved and no longer requires antibiotics. The eaglets pectoral muscles have increased in strength and this will help build endurance, agility and flight duration. E8 is eating very well and will soon be introduced to live prey to assist with the development of natural hunting instincts. E8 will continue to receive daily conditioning and the carpal bumpers and tail guard have been removed. The eaglet currently weighs 7.9 pounds.
It seems as E8 is doing quite well.
The big test is yet to come. Freedom!
