Banana Spiders!!
Saw the first banana spider web of the year. Down here in Cajun country that is a sure sign that fall isn't far off. Here is the pictures and several stories about our "little" spiders.

LOL Sanderson the one in this post is smallish. If you clicked the link at the bottom of the post you would be taken to several other spider stories on the blog showing big ones.

I like spiders, as long as they are outside! Their webs are beautiful and artistic. They are at the top of the food chain for sure.

The largest I have ever personally seen are female wolf spiders with babies around the house and male tarantulas crossing the road in the foothills. I think I read in Cappy's blog that the banana spider body is the size of a hand palm???

Ummmm what I said was this was a smaller spider and his legs and all were the size of my palm. A larger one's body is around 4 inches long. and maybe 6 inches around legs and all. They are not really banana spiders, we just call them that.......... for some reason

Those look very similar to the pretty yellow garden spiders we get here. Ours are smaller, but if left unperturbed for an entire season, they can get fairly large.

Yea, I am right next door to Lafourche. It's true Cajun country lin=ving and culture is slipping away faster now than ever before mainly due to cable tv and the internet in my openion. Young folks are loosing their heritage.
