Black widow spiders & other uckies!
Just had a bws show up in the garage. Everybody's looking for warm places to hole up. So be careful! Especially of your shoes & gloves!!!
Re: Black widow spiders & other uckies!
I always get the creeps digging through the woodpile for logs, since we get spiders there and there are a few dangerous types around here.

I finished cleaning some 26 pots for winter, watching for BW on each pot. During the summer, I kill them along the fences at night time.

I've never seen them "outside," only inside or on a patio or deck. They seem to like hanging around houses a lot.
I saw a show about exterminators with a segment on brown recluse spider infestation. Apparently they reproduce in vast numbers, and the little spiders can spread thickly all over a house. And they are still dangerous when they're so tiny their legs look like hairs. Yikes.

I think I told y'all last year about when DH got bitten by a HUGE bw... Don't want to see anyone else go thru that!! And I've seen some bad things about those brown recluses too...!

I used to work with someone who almost lost a leg from a brown recluse bite. She didn't even know she had been bitten at the time. She thinks she must have gotten it while cleaning the garage, but never felt it.
