Hello SFG-ers:

Just introducing myself. I'm a 32yo male, and I live in downtown Atlanta, GA. I'm new to SFG and new to gardening in general.

My parents gave me Mel Bart's book last fall when I bought my house, but I didn't get around to reading it until a couple weeks ago. . . needless to say, I enjoyed it, and I've gone ahead and constructed 2 SFGs with a 3rd one in progress. Hopefully I haven't bit off more than I can chew.

Haven't filled in all my squares yet - saving space for some heirloom tomatos that my parents are starting. But so far I've got rosemary, leeks, red lettuce, butter lettuce, bush bean seeds and brussels sprouts planted. Very interested to see what happens with the brussels - I'm thinking I'll do the vertical frame for those.

Looking forward to chatting with everyone!

Hi Scott!

Welcome to the team!

We are just getting started on this NEW forum (guess we wore the old one out...) Its a great place to get questions answered and provide input for the SFG community.

Ask what you need and share where you can!

New Gardner - Atlanta, GA Empty Moved from Atlanta a few years ago

Post  Marf 3/13/2010, 10:27 am

Hi, Scott
We moved from downtown (Grant Park area) a few years ago. Now we're out in the country about 45 minutes south. I'm just getting started in square foot gardening, too. I have 3 boxes, so far I have lettuce, spinach, radishes, broccoli, english peas, and sugar snap peas coming up. I had my first tiny harvest of lettuce last weekend! We have LOTS of critters of all types out here in the woods so today I'm hoping to build some covers.
Good gardening!
