OK. You inspired me. Also all of the sharpie ink had faded from my plastic signs. I had bought some of the good plastic marker and decided to try something on them. It is just acrylic paint and gold artist's pen. I do not know yet if they will stand the test of time. Acrylic is pretty tough though.

I liked the minimalist look of the White House garden ones, but could not leave well enough alone. Not professional blocking of letters, but OK for my own garden. And hey, it was like 2 am. The design needs some attention too. I thought I would include the planting per square foot on the tags too. I fudged on the zucchini b/c although it says 1, it is actually 1 per 4 sf in this particular bed - among corn.

My good camera broke and this was taken with my cell. Can't get quite the crispness I would like!

I LOVE IT! What's Your Garden Sign? - Page 2 53366

Looks amazing to me. I don't see a single flaw!!! I purposely picked a easy "child~like" font because my handwriting is so awful! But yours turned out beautifully.

Robbinscabin:

Your garden markers are very unique and wonderful!
I agree, you could definitely sell them.

You are obviously very artistic.

Happy gardening.....

This is not my own original idea...I saw painted wooden spoons somewhere on the web but can't find them now but anyway, I bought wooden spoons at our $Tree (4 wooden spoons for $1) and someday (read 'next winter') will try to paint cute little veggies on them to use for crop signs. If I ever get one done I will post a pic

What a great idea! I saw a sign of a different kind this week (more for the house than the garden) but boy...it seemed to really "fit"... It's Been Monday Everyday This Week. What's Your Garden Sign? - Page 2 889526

Your painted signs are so cute! I hope they last!
I also heard of people painting smooth rocks, and using those as garden markers, but I haven't tried that, myself.
Last year, I tried making my own plant markers out of big popsicle sticks glued to wooden shapes (from the craft store), and I used a woodburner to write the plant name. It sure looked nice! But they didn't last the season. :-(

Now, I am using purchased metal ones from the garden store:

Those are really cute! What happened to them? Did you use a clear coat on them after woodburning?

Nope! I didn't coat them with anything. If I did, they probably would've lasted, I guess. I am reluctant to put plastic or paint in the garden. The metal ones I'm using this year will last much longer! :-)

Here's my garden signs. Made myself from tin can lids and some wire. In case you're wondering, it says 'AARD-BEI', which is Dutch for strawberry.

My daughter's family lives with me. She asked her 6 year old to go out and get some dill and he said "which is dill?" Then he said, "Nevermind, I'll read the signs". A few minutes later he came in with a few sprigs of dill! So, the signs aren't just for the gardener. What's Your Garden Sign? - Page 2 Icon_smile

I can't agree more! My kindergartener was out in the garden and suddenly she came running across the lawn. She raced into the house and hurriedly screamed, "THESQUASHAREHERE!" I glanced out the window at the driveway...I wasn't sure who but it sounded like someone was here. I said, "No one is here." She impatiently stomped her cute little foot and very slowly (like I was a bit daft) said, "THE SQUASH ARE HERE!" I laughed a little and said, "How do you know?" She said, "I read the sign!" After a short walk to the garden I found that indeed the Squash had arrived. What's Your Garden Sign? - Page 2 Lol

Thanks PB,

I love them too! Baler is the blue, Gibbs the red. Heelers do make great companions. I'm sure Annie Mae is the picture perfect family sweety as my boys are too.
