uh oh...a few problems already.. help

Hi All,

I planted my beds today, but I did have to use plants that I bought at the local nursery.
They sat for a few days before I was able to plant them, and the tomatoes have some brown spots on the leaves already, also, one plant, my yellow pear, already has some flowers... are either of these a problem? And if so, any suggestions?

Can you take some pictures of the brown spots on the affected tomatoes? If so, people who see them here or elsewhere might be able to give you better feedback.

Re the buds, pinch them off. Yellow pears will produce plenty more later on when the plant is better established, so losing a few (or even a few handfuls) of little pear tomatoes won't add up to much compared to your season's harvest.

If you just transplanted these plant you will see some signs of stress. brown or drying leaves, temporary wilt, blossoms pushing out. GO ahead and pick off the blossoms and the leaves with brown spots. The plant will make more healthy growth once the roots settle and begin growing into the garden bed.

Another question: What is the best way to take off the leaves without damaging the plant?

I find myself sometimes clumsily peeling a bit of a tomato stem's skin off when pruning branches or suckers with my fingers sometimes. I do it anyway, but often wish I'd had the patience to do it with scissors. Flowers, though, reliably come off cleanly.
