Second year planting question Empty Second year planting question

I need some help planting my square foot garden for the second year. First, the Mel's mix that I used last year needs some added to it to bring it back up the level I need to plant this year. I figured I would need to add some compost to it but I don't know how much. Any suggestions? Do I rake it into last year's mix or just rest it on top of it? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I take off the grid and then I add as much homemade compost that it takes to fill up the box, which sometimes could be a whole wheel barrow full. Then I take my garden fork and stir it up with the mix from last year.
