What are you planning on planting this year?
I know you are all planning your gardens already, so what are you planning on?
I have limited space, but have as many square foot beds as I can fit in.
I also will get the large majority of my fresh produce from a local CSA that grows their veggies organically.
So I am thinking about what I can grow more in a storage sense.
Sugar snap peas for the freezer.
Radishes, because I can't get enough.
Tomatoes for the canner (spaghetti sauce, salsa, jarred tomatoes, stewed tomatoes)
Garlic (planted a big crop this past fall)
storage onions (can't believe how expensive they've gotten)
Lima beans (for the freezer)
Hot peppers for the salsa
Lots of herbs. Tons of basil to freeze pesto for the winter.
Hoping the strawberries newly planted last year produce this year.
Spinach, chard for the freezer
Beets, for the greens and canned pickled beets.
Butternut and buttercup squash because they are so yummy and I never get enough from the CSA.
?Maybe try my hand at potatoes this year?
?Thinking about putting in an asparagus bed??

Re: What are you planning on planting this year?
Tomatoes, tomatoes, tomatoes.
Ordered garlic, hasn't arrived, making me mad.
Herbs, herbs, herbs, out front of my house.
Beans, beans, beans, oh and more beans, and maybe a little more just to make sure I have enough.
A melon or two.
A pumpkin or two.
Hot peppers, mild peppers, sweet peppers.
Carrots for the test thingie!
And uh, some green stuff, like lettuce and what not, a gourd, that's about it for summer/spring!
Oh and radishes.

Oh my
Good luck with the morning glories... I planted them once, they were beautiful for a couple of years, and then took over... they started growing in the middle of my yard. They were horribly invasive! I shudder now everytime I hear the word!

Re: What are you planning on planting this year?
I have a special spot for my morning glories, they have a lattice to climb, and they have an area 6" x 3' wide to grow in, anything else gets pulled up. It's right outside my kitchen window and hides the shop & junk hubby drags home from my view. But yes they can go everywhere, but mine also house lizards, so I have no plans on moving it. In fact hubby wants to expand the porch, I am moving part of my kitchen/herb garden, but the box with the morning glories, my tea rose, and lemon balm are staying put, he can work around them!!!
