Sowed all these seeds on 3/6/13. The tomatoes were the first ones up, and as you will probably see those lazy eggplants are taking their sweet time to come up. I've been taking them outside and putting them in the "teepee" that covers one of the boxes when the temp is over 40F and then bringing them in when they arent get full sun.

Aubergine plants like it H O T ! ! ! ! If you can increase the temperature you will see a huge jump in their growth.

Ok, Im an old geezer, but this is the first time I ever heard of a eggplant being referred to as an "Aubergine" Embarassed I promptly went and wikied to learn what it was.

As for turning up the heat, I have a space heater here in the office where I keep my seedlings. I will turn that flat towards the heater. Thank you Camprn. I just always thought that eggplants were fussy.

Yup, they can be a bit fussy. They like being fed a a LOT of water!

I don't grow a lot of eggplants. I will have a couple of golden eggs and a couple of Thai white ribbed, both mostly for stir fry.
I do put them in the same heated mini greenhouse as my peppers, and everything in there gets a good drenching daily because I'm heating it with a space heater and they get dry as a result.
The eggplants usually come up after the sweet peppers, but before the hot peppers. I got 100% germination out of 2 year old seeds this way. Which means I will be thinning them because I did not expect that. I planted three to a pot hoping to get one per.
