Hello from memphis tn area

Hi I have been a long time gardener growing up in the North. Moving to the south several years ago, has made gardening here a real challenge. This year I will be trying my hand at the BTE method in raised beds, in hopes it will work well for me. With all the clay here I finally realized to grow above the ground. I'm looking forward to gaining alot of knowledge in this forum. Wishing everyone a succesfull and bountiful growing season.

What is the BTE method ?

before adding the cardboard and woodchips the soil was hard clay and when we dug into it....we found no worm's

the exciting news update is....when hubby went out last week to put in some late flower bulbs ( we found a bag of bulbs that we missed last fall that were sprouting What a Face ) the soil under the wood chips did not feel like clay...it was easy to dig in and....it had LOTS of worms cheers and so far no weeds....or grass...."
You may want to use this method to "help" your clay soil.

Seems FamilyGardening would be the lead experimenter on this forum.

Hello, fellow Memphian! I agree, this seems so much easier than tilling admendments into this dense clay we have for soil. Good luck!
