Hello from Bartlett, TN (Memphis area)
Hello all.
I have been attempting a SFG for about 7 years now and I love every second of it (except for the aphids last year - oh the aphids). The reason I started this hobby is that I wanted to taste a real tomato again - like the ones I remember from my childhood.
I look forward to learning from you all.

Hi Christoharris. Welcome from Atlanta, GA.
Ah, yes, the aphids. Horrid little creatures!
Please tell us more about your garden!

I leave in what is essentially a Zero Lot Line neighborhood. I converted a flower bed into the garden about 6 or 7 years ago to 54 wonderful squares for gardening.
I have had great success with Garlic in the fall but not much else in the fall / winter.
As for the summers here, tomatoes were "iffy" until last year when I switched to determinates. I have had some success with some Japanese Cucumbers as well as squash (yellow and zucchini), raddishes, lettuce, and okra.
Trying a few new things this year - different spacing configurations on the tomatoes and I am even giving corn a try.
Wish me luck!

Good Luck! Aphids are my downfall, too. HATE THE LITTLE BUGGERS!
Re: Hello from Bartlett, TN (Memphis area)
Chris, Welcome to the Forum from California! I have what is a little bigger than a Zero Lot Line, 60' x 100'. It has been a real puzzle over the last 5 years to figure out how I could squeeze small SFG beds tucked here and there around the back yard. We love to share and see photos, so don't be shy.

I think one thing you need for aphids is lots of air between the leaves and stems. I remember growing my tomatoes too close together and with moist weather that provided a haven for the little b------s.
I do hope you are enjoying your own home-grown toms.

christoharrism, welcome from Ottawa, Canada.
For aphids you may want to try using yellow solo cups and vaseline traps.
