Baker's Creek seeds for Christmas! Empty Baker's Creek seeds for Christmas!

Post  cheyannarach 12/26/2012, 3:05 am

So I was very surised today with all of the seeds I recieved today as gifts! I will certainly not have to buy any this spring! Hubby suprised me with the following from Bakers Creek!

Scarlet runner beans
Arikara yellow beans
Eggplant Rosita
Bison Tomato
Orange Icicle Tomato
Dakota gold tomato (GG please get in touch!! Would like to send you a few!)
Fordhook Zuke
Boston Pickling Cuke
Mammoth red rock cabbage
Detroit dark red beet
American anonas melon
Lutz salad leaf beet
Verde tomatillo
Hawaiian pineapple tomato (this one excites me the most)
Italian pepperoncini
Amish Paste tomato
Half long Guernsey parsnip
Lightning Mix hot peppers
Envy soya bean
Grandpa's home peppers

Then I went to my Mom and Dad's and they suprised me with a bunch of seeds and plants that will arrive this spring (can't find the entire list right now). From the top of my head includes:

Bright lights chard
Potatoes (she was not specific on the type thinking )
Grey shallots
Garlic (not specified either)
Tomatoes (not specified)
Corn (not specified)

and a few others that I can't remember. Sooo excited to start these! If any of you have any tips on them I would be hapy to have them, the only one that I know I have experience with is the Detroit dark red beets! Both hubbs and mom also got me copper markers for the garden, I am really looking foward to spring! Oops almost forgot, they both also got me heat mats, hubbs got my one that is four feet long and mom got me one that is smaller but that cn be enclosed Very Happy Merry Christmas to all of you. If anyone is wanting to try a few seeds of a certain one of these I would be happy to share thanks to many of my SFG friends including Goosegirl, Turan, NYC Quilter, and Camprn!

Are you lucky, or what!

Sounds like you need to order seed cats, for upcoming years, and have them addressed to hubby and parents!

Oooooh, you are a lucky woman indeed to have such a thoughtful companion!

Guard well the grey shallots. They are not very easy to get here in the US. What a Face

Yes, a very lucky girl indeed. Just found out it is cascade rose garlic and German butterball potatoes.

Last year was the first time I ever started my own before and I started in april, I think this year I will start some sooner than others, some later than others, and save some for direct sowing. Last year I was soo excited to start them myself and I started everything indoors (except for root crops and corn), I lost a flat of flowers (due to ignorance, oops Embarassed ) but it was quite a jungle in my house so this year I am hoping to do a little better at what to and what not to start indoors. Very Happy

Cheyanne those are some great gifts! It's going to be hard to wait to get started, I bet, but this will give you time to decide how much to plant and when to get things started indoors! Have lots of fun!

Yes, I can't wait! And mom said her stuff was shipping in the spring but I just got an email that said that it was shipped 12-26, whohoo! I can't wait to look through the new seeds, I am sure the plants wont ship until spring and the shallots won't ship until next fall but that gives me something to look forward to for months!
