using lake moss in compost? Empty using lake moss in compost?

Post  crs 5/30/2012, 9:22 pm

I was wondering if i could use lake moss. I have read about using seaweed in compost but I live in the center of the country and not sure I could find seaweed here but I can find lake moss! Would I need to dry it first or add it as is if it is useable?
Thanks

I am wondering the same thing, not a lot of seaweed in South Dakota! I am sure you can use it but is it nutrient rich like seaweed?

Any green plant is fair game for the compost pile. I expect it does not have all the seaside minerals, but it may have some other nutrients not generally available. Go for it.

I use it right out of the pond and haven't had any problems that I know of.
