peat moss in compost..what does that mean exactly??
I'm new to the SFG method and to gardening in general. When looking for bagged compost and peat moss is one of the ingredients, does it mean, for example, in chicken manure compost, that the chicken manure was first composted and the peat moss added afterwards as a filler? Or does it mean the peat moss was composted along with the chicken manure? Does it make a difference? I'm sure I should avoid the former but should I also avoid the latter?

Peat moss is often used as a filler in compost. What it means in relation to SFG is the ratio of peat moss to other compost ingredients will be off (more peat/less other compost), which, while not horrible, isn't exactly right.
