Who to talk to regarding possible probs with pre mix Mel's Mix
I would like to know who to contact regarding possible problems I'm having with the Mel's Mix pre mix from Lowe's? I've called "Garden Time", the maker of the product, and am only getting the run around. Thank you.

If it was me I would contact the foundation directly and let them know exactly what issues you are having with the product.

Here is the 800 # 801-782-4559
Victoria is the 'CEO'
Just tell them you want to speak to the highest ranking person on the place! Mel is in California, if you could get the # out there. It would make me mad to find the trash, etc in the product.

Re: Who to talk to regarding possible probs with pre mix Mel's Mix
thank you for the phone number. I will call after the weekend. I called the other SFG toll free number, and the message said the mailbox was full, and hung up on me ;/ I REALLY want this to work! I am disappointed in the customer service from Garden Time, that's for sure. Hope I can get some resolution. Thank you again for the contact information. Have a great Memorial Weekend.

This is the week that the Foundation is moving locations from Utah to South Carolina. So it doesn't surprise me that you're having trouble getting someone to answer.
I have seen women looking at jewelry ads with a misty eye and one hand resting on the heart, and I only know what they're feeling because that's how I read the seed catalogs in January - Barbara Kingsolver - Animal, Vegetable, Miracle

Re: Who to talk to about possible problems with Mel's Mix
I mentioned on this forum about my message to the powers that be ......about the small bark in the Mels Mix.....I bought many many bags at $12.95 a bag....why is bark in it....thats not the receipe......I dont like paying for the bark....this was over 2 months ago and I got a msg that it was forwarded and I would be receiving an answer.....no answer as yet.....Last times I was at Lowes....there was no MM there.....and in the info about the move to South Carolina it was stated that there were going to be distributing sites.....so I wonder whats going on in this direction......Ruth

Re: Who to talk to regarding possible probs with pre mix Mel's Mix
We STILL don't have our replacement soil. Contacted Gro Well again, they are going to check with the California makers, and see what's going on.....This is so frustrating. They say they want to "get it right" before shipping to us, which we appreciate, but man, this is really taking a long time to have no answers. We have boxes with zucchini in them, one plant is green and about a foot across, and another is yellow, and still sits with 4 leaves and flowers. One tomato plant is about 5' tall, the other is about 2' tall. My garden out front that's NOT in Mel's Mix is growing like mad! There's tomato plants that are at least 7-8' tall, onions growing like mad, cilantro robust green, peppers taking off. We planted a basil about a foot tall, DARK green and robust, after about 1 week in the pre made Mel's Mix, it's yellow and hasn't grown at all. It never wilted, just turned yellow. I really wish someone would help us!! We planted our pumpkins on Father's Day, most have sprouted and have 2-3 leaves, but they also seem to be stalling out, but it might be a little early to tell if they're gonna struggle too. I really wish someone would help us!!

While you wait for the corporate wheel to turn...maybe it's time to go see your local folks at the Cooperative Extension Service. Maybe they can give you some advice on how to salvage the situation.

Re: Who to talk to regarding possible problems with pre mix Mels Mix....
So Sorry that you havent got your replacement for Mels Mix.....If they are really testing to find the problems it will probably take a lot of time for the plants to show them that they are in a coma.....or not.....
My tomatoes (4) of them are only 2 and a half ft tall....they do have a few tomatoes on the vines ....cucumbers (5) have stalled.....5 peppers are waiting to be pulled out of the grave....lettuce beets and kale likewise......cant believe all this....
as I mentioned before I have used Mels Mix in past years and have been very happy with the results......but not the batch I recently purchased.....and at $12.95 per bag....I dont like paying for fine bark......that is not the original receipe....like making it myself.....grr grr...
Am changing my 4x4 with a new wire bottom and putting it on concrete blocks.....it was sit on 4 small metal sawhorses.....had an ant problem last year and couldnt find which one of the 16 legs they were using as a freeway......this was not a good idea...but it had Mels Mix in it and had great results in growing.........Ruth

Re: Who to talk to regarding possible probs with pre mix Mel's Mix
Ruth, I totally agree. I have written to Mel himself, and I mentioned you to him, and how you were having problems as well. I told him you said you were not up to the "fight" any longer to get yours replaced, and asked if maybe he could help you. I hope this all works out. I just got my compost thermometer and moisture meter, and I am sooo anxious to get going! My cucumbers sound just like yours, about 3' tall, and some cucumbers, but not anything like the other members show. My peppers are about the same size as when I put them in, have blossoms, but the plants are yellow and the leaves are falling off. Seems like areas of the soil are burning the plants? Who knows
