As you may have read from my "over the overwintered hump thread", that bed is still going strong and I am now over 10 hours of daylight per day in my locale. Everything in this bed was planted from my own seed back on October 4th. I have taken down the hoops for now as it is my wife who takes off the plastic for me each morning (as it is still dark when I leave for work) and she is expecting our second boy in about 5 weeks. I didn't want her going out there from now on and dealing with it. I think we've seen the worst of winter but perhaps not; either way, the veggies are on their own from now on.

Here is what is going on.....

The spinach has been a great producer all winter. It was all mature before the frosts set in around mid November. I just love the cut and come again crops. Hopefully this will continue into March when I expect them to bolt. As expected, the carrots (scarlet nantes) taste much better now some frosts have nipped them and I have been consistently pulling 6-8 inchers. The Kale has performed as expected and I prefer the dwarf variety planted this time around. I have been surprised at the Cilantro. Much hardier than I thought and always bolts too fast in the spring to enjoy it. I'm glad I tried it this fall. You don't need much as a stalk here and there added to a salad is really noticable.

Thanks, Staf

I also have followed your videos and comments on your fall/winter garden.

Nice of you to let Momma avoid the trips out to the garden, Very Happy

You may be surprised at how much continues on without protection, due to your relatively mild climate.

Really nice job and Thank you for providing such enjoyable videos.
