I got my DVDs yesterday and had to watch all 3 disks at one sitting. Each disk is about an hour long. Loved them.
Mel does not mention Mel's Mix but he does advocate mixing one part each of compost, peat moss and vermiculite in his beds. Of course, these date from his early years.

He even started out without lumber around his beds. Just marked a 4-foot square and worked the soil inside that area and planted. He placed foot-wide boards between his flat beds so he wouldn't walk on the beds themselves.

Things sure have changed, but the ideas are generally the same.
Putting different crops in each of the squares is the thing I like best.

And I will surely choose to put more flowers inside the squares this year. I planned to put my nasturtiums and marigolds in pots and hanging baskets around the garden area, but I think some salvia and geraniums for color in a square here and there and some dusty miller, would bring me out to my garden more often so I could pinch out any new weeds trying to take hold with my crops, before they get started.

Its great to have these DVDs at my fingertips when I feel like getting a gardening boost of energy. It gives me hope for a better harvest.

I would recommend the DVD set to anyone planning to use his methods.

If the keeper of the checkbooks bees do well, I will be getting 2 sets, one for me and one for my local Library.

I love the idea of a set for the local library. I think I'll put a bug in the ear of the library director to buy the set. I'd love to do so, but can't manage it.

Great idea.
