Now I wish I'd stuck the word 'quilt' in there somewhere, since I've seen there are a few other quilters in the SFG forums!
As long as it doesn't get abused, members have the option of changing their screen names! Do it in the first window that shows up in your profile.
Re: What's in a name
Thanks, Boffer, but that would require me to remember a new name, and at my age, there aren't that many available brain cells left! ;-)

Re: What's in a name?
I took my name from my favorite TV show as I was growing up... OK, it's still my favorite show. Even though I'm an engineer, I took the name Gilligan instead of the Professor because I garden like Gilligan and not the Professor. Smooth sailing to all!

Glad to meet another quilter, sbeach! Of course, you're from region where quilts are actually used for more than a couple of nights a year!

Mine's simple... PB are the initials of my name. Funny though hubby's name starts with J, so in lots of forums I am PBandJ.

Re: What's in a name?
And I thought I had read every letter in this forum! I wanted a new user name for this forum b/c in the past I just used my first name and last initial and it seemed boring. Chopper in a nickname from camp in the Poconos from many moons ago so I decided to use that because gardening make me feel young. Some days. And some days older than my 84 year old father!

Hahahaha! I love that episode, it's one of my favorites. Luckily I have the un-radioactive seeds. My kids were disappointed that the carrots didn't grow overnight though.

Hi Garden_State,
Nice to meet you! We're originally from NJ too (exit 9), and I thought it was a fundamental requirement for everyone to be by an exit! We're in Texas now and miss the trees terribly. It's simply not green here. Lots of sun for the garden though!

Carol, thats not dull !!! you are so funny. When I got this nic I was living in california.. if I added my name to california..it would have been too long. I like knowing where folks are too and your nic helps me remember

Re: What's in a name?
I've been using this name for as long as I can remember, I made it up one day when I was a teen and had more imagination, been using it ever since, registration is always easy as the name is always available. Just hope no one ever remembers me from my younger years. Lets just say there was a lot more chat.. some goth... and very erratic behaviour.
Maybe it is time for a new name....

Re: What's in a name?
Well, I joined a weight loss forum a few years back and my user name was Dietryin for ( Diet Tryin) and had much success. My whole family came on board and we changed our way of eating to Whole foods. Now because of this life style change, we consume so much fresh produce that we decided to try our hand this year at gardening. When I join this forum I thought....I'm going to Die Trying (DieTryin) to do what is best for my family.

Well butter my buns, and call me a bisquit! I've been looking at 'dietryin' for nearly two months and couldn't see it-right in plain sight!
Re: What's in a name?
I got my online name from a nickname a friend gave me in the 4th grade. My name is Sherry, and she started calling me "Cherry Cherry Chew."
Also, about that time, we little youngsters were divided into small groups, and the teacher gave each group a small garden patch to tend at our school out in the country. I remember the gardening experience, and thus, my nickname.

Re: Whats in a name
I am a New Zealander born and bred, and the affection name for New Zealanders is Kiwi - when I was a child my mother used to call me Rosie because of a pair of PJ's I used to have that had roses on them (she thought they were raspberries - and was probably right - and wanted to call me raspberry - and I pitched a fit and said they were roses - so she called me Rosie) - KiwiRose just sounded better to me than KiwiRosie. I pitched another fit at her when I was a teenager and she hasn't called me Rosie since, although apparently I still like the idea

Middlemamma
I have this yearning that someday if I keep trying I might actually make progress toward the addage "Moderation in all things". I have a tendancy to let myself be consumed by something. I am an all in or nothing kind of gal.
I discovered natural living when I was in my early 20's. I had both my children at home with a midwife, choose natural remies more often than not, among some other "crunchy" lifestyle choices. However, as with any idealology there are extremes. I lacked whatever it takes to be COMPLETELY granola...couldn't bear the thought of cloth diapering, or cutting out everything not organic, I will take my children to the ER if after trying on my own I cannot fix it, etc. So not being the EXTREME version of this lifestyle I found myself trapped quite nicely smack dab in the MIDDLE of mainstream living/parenting and natural living/parenting.
For the first time in my life my pendulum was in the middle! LOL...I decided Middlemama fit what I was trying to accomplish in my life, balance, moderation etc and it fit our living/parenting style as well. Been Middlemamma ever since.

These are my kids' names. like many others I was tired of trying to find the right Jim, JerseyJim, etc. Seemed like I always spent way too much time trying to find a screenname. ralitaco is always available, if not, then I have to remember my password.
btw born off 14A
raised off exit 82 and 80

Little Thumb. Since this is my first time gardening of any kind I thought Green Thumb would be a good name. After a little thought, about 2 seconds, I realized I NEVER gardened so Green Thumb wouldn't work . So since I am just a baby :!: in the garden world I choose Little Thumb.

My name is Valerie; when I was a kid, I would read Prince Valient comics, and somehow associated myself with that. I lived in Oregon when I got my email, so it was valientor...
