I just heard about in on the national radio news,,, the winds are fearsome and the fire went from about 50 to several thousand acres almost overnight... you are all in my thoughts, I hope you get rain soon!RoOsTeR wrote:No asthma thank goodness! They are saying this morning the fire is over 5000 acres...and it's windy![]()

Re: Senseless Banter...
I've been kept up-to-date from my cousin who lives near Denver. She was out somewhere in her car when the "golf balls" started falling, and the car didn't fair very well. She posted some amazing pictures on her Facebook page. She's watching the fires as well.
Here I was sad when we had a little hail here and I lost a few spinach leaves... I'm guessing folk out there lost whole gardens in that storm (as well as cars and sky-lights). Hope the fires stay far from you and those you love!

Re: Senseless Banter...
It has been bee stuff for me all weekend...The Queen(in my avatar) in my strongest hive has gone missing and the hive didn't swarm... This means somehow she has met her demise in the hive...
No signs of any recent queen activity when I was able to open the hive today... first time in almost 3 weeks. There were 5 queen cells, so I divided the hive... fingers crossed that we get two new queens.
I didn't get much gardening done this weekend...![Shocked](https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/icon_eek.gif)

You are not alone. I'm all by myself, too. I do have a daughter four miles away, but sometimes I don't even feel like driving four miles for a swim on a hot day.

Hey, Rooster, ever heard of DIY? My late DH used to say, when I arrived home, "I'm starving". To which I would reply, "Can you open the fridge door?" It was a standing joke between us.

" If wished were horses then beggars would ride , get off your arse and do it yourself "
Wonderful wisdom.. I've never gone hungry![Laughing](https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/icon_lol.gif)

Senseless Banter
My daughter has a saying --"If you want something done, then do it" She has done many things that others would consider "man's work", despite the fact that she has a husband.
Re: Senseless Banter...
The saying around our house when I was a kid was "Is your arm broke?" We all became self-sufficient at a relatively early age!

How sad, the fire has destroyed at least 180 homes so far
http://www.gazette.com/articles/high-140394-homes-park.html
It's been fairly breezy here the last few days so most of the smoke has cleared out of this area.
Hope to take the boys fishing today!!

Re: Senseless Banter...
My best laugh of the day so far:
There is a local auction house that has a couple online auctions every month. I was quite pleased to bid on, and win, a Crimson Queen Japanese Maple tree. I hooked up my cargo trailer because I didn't think it would fit in either of my trucks easily without damaging it. On the way to pick it up, I was worried about whether my buddy and I could pick it up to load it. Fortunately, there were employees at the store to help with loading. When I got home, I just had to take a couple pictures to show everyone.

The joke's on me! The auction picture made the tree look real big!
So, I still got a good deal, but it wasn't the steal that I thought it was!
